Poker Income Okay so this is my first post on this site so before I get started I want to mention that I am new to this site. I also do not have much experience with posting on any forums; so if I am doing anything out of the norm I apolagize ahead of time (just let me know if so). Okay so the reason I wanted to post this thread was to get an idea of the amount of income that everyone makes playing poker and how serious everyone is about it. I just started a new website (sort of like my personal blog). That is why I would like to get an idea of the average for the questions I am about to ask. Then I will use the data I collect across different forums to write an article about it for my site. I also just want to know for my own personal reasons as well. Okay enough with that...lets get down to it. --Do you play poker as a source of income? --Do you keep track of your income for poker? --Do you look at poker as a job? --Do you play poker as your only source of income? --How many hours do you play per week? --How do you track stats? --Online/Offline or both? -- Anything else? So I guess it makes sense for me to start it off. -- I do play poker as a source of income (not primary source) -- I keep track of every dollar that goes in and out of my poker account (I have a bank account specifically for poker) -- I do look at poker as a job and take it very seriously -- I play anywhere from 20-40 hours per week sometimes more of course (mostly live, but I do play my fair share of online poker). --I track my stats through my own software that I created (just simple and gives me what I need custom to what I need to track) I track pretty much every detail I can think of tracking all the way down to what I was wearing that night or day (I know...thats just wrong) Okay, well that is all I can think of right now. Thanks ahead of time for your input. Hopefuly I get some good discussion out of this thread.

I'd love to make Poker my primary source of income...I hope I'm good enough for that. I try not to play for cash though, simply because if I lose, I get so angry at myself. I win through freerolls, and use the 5 bucks or whatever to build up through 1.10 tournies. Got to $40 last time and 60 FPP, then gave the cash to a friend to payoff a loan Of course, I've gone on tilt since then, and haven't been able to earn another ticket Or maybe its all the donks

I have been playing for a few years, but only have started playing "seriously" for about 2 months. By seriously I mean that I play about 30 hours a week, read books, participate in forums etc. My game is steadily improving, but I still need to improve my game a lot. I play about 20-30hours a week, but all low stakes. (2 $50 deposits in 3 months) I still look at it as a hobby, but would like to develop my skill enough to consider it a source of income. Thanks for posting this topic, I am curious as to how many players either play full time, or make enough to ocnsider it another source of income

As most avid poker players, I would like to make an income from it..however, I'm currently pretty deep in the hole with the amount I've deposited..as I'm now broke.. (roughly 2k in the hole between online and live tables) So while I feel my game's improving ever so slowly..I still have much improving to do..and while I know I need to sit down and read some books..that doesn't seem to be going too well. One of these days though, I'll be out of the hole :P Trying to start a bankroll now through freerolls..and as you can see by my sig..I'm off to a $.20 start :P I have one coming up on Carbon in 15 mins, so, I'll see how that goes. Hopefully it's over before I gotta go to work.

--Do you play poker as a source of income? I play as a hobby but make a profit so I guess that could be considered an income. --Do you keep track of your income for poker? Yes - meticulously! --Do you look at poker as a job? No, it's a hobby. --Do you play poker as your only source of income? No. --How many hours do you play per week? On average, 30 hours per week. --How do you track stats? PokerTracker plus a MS Excel spreadsheet that I've created. --Online/Offline or both? Strictly online - cash games (FL) -- Anything else? Poker has always been a hobby, but as I am currently unable to work due to ill health, the modest profit that I make is used to supplement my income.
