who wins if we both have pair of jacks and 8s one has a ace and the other is a 5 do we split the pot?

The best "5" card hand wins.


So if you each have 8-8-j-j this becomes a game of HIGH card.
The kicker will decide this hand.

If you have An ace in your hand, and your friend has a 5 in his hand
Then you would win.

If you had a 10 in your hand, and your friend had a Q in his hand, but there was a K on the board, then you split the pot.
