Hey guys,

It's been a while since i've wrote a thread on here hope all is
well.
I'm coming back from a long, long break I say long probably coming up a year I've
not been playing full time online or at all until end of november and brief stints.

Theirs alot of guys out there on cards chat I see who are just starting out
and reminds me of myself starting out back now 2009/2010.
Alot of studying working on game and alot of deep runs in big tournaments
unfortunately I haven't took down anything glamourous cashed in several local highrollers and played a few wsops sunday millions out of own roll thats as good as its ever got. Given the family situation I have at home with two kids its no longer time or money feesable to invest 8 hours plus a day grinding.,

Fortunately this year away I've really found myself and found development in life and career, this all stems from my energy put into poker persoanl development.
I figured that if I was able to work so hard on my game and invest so much time into becoming a worthy poker player what could that same energy do invested into life and career development.

So taking a step away from the felt in many ways has opened my eyes to life on deeper levels
its been some year up and down but kicked the gambling and made some good career opportunities become a reality.
But I think it's important for everyone here grinding who's maybe not providing themselves with a comfortable living from poker not to over invest all their energy into the game, just relax keep the right mindset and discipline and if its meant to be it will happen, if its not meant to be I assure you life will have better and bigger plans for you, even if right now poker is in your mind your dream destiny.

Everyone on this forum has something special alot of people dont have.
And thats a willingness to learn and contribute something to others and those are both great life traits.
And if their is one thing ive learnt this year its a person with the willingness and desire to succeed in life, will succeed and create something good if they committ to that and manifest positive attitudes and actions into there day to day lives!

Just a little story and hopefully it can give insight or confidence to some just starting out
or struggling to break through the ferocious field of online players we have these days at high stakes!.

This year Im investing my own money to play 2 legs of the uk poker tour and ill be satelliting online for most big events (well trying), my passion for the game is still there even though my grinding
days are well behind me.
And for the record Im playing stronger than ever, yes small samples but winning most cash sessions and reading well in tournaments...
So if you are playing hours and hours a day to try make it, theres no reason you cant maintain any skill and ability you have and focus on a multiple flow of income, if you dont already have that.

Good luck at the tables!

Many people believe that the modern poker - is not just a sports game, a more intelligent game for money. It is very difficult to answer the question, what actually is a modern poker.
Poker - is a sport. And really if poker is a sport, as many now it is presented? And we are instantly ready to repeat this statement, will be like a clever and energetic poker regulars. And maybe it really is a game for the development of intelligence in a relatively not bad money? Or maybe something else?
Poker has the status of sports in different states, which is periodically taken away from him, but then again return back favorably. Legal work poker clubs want to do so legally. Everyone knows that even the Sophists proved an opportunity to question any of revealing the truth. And so, if someone once able to prove that poker is a 100% sports - many this will be only too happy.
But some people poker as a sport, do not perceive, and many will argue with this statement. After all, everyone around knows that poker - a game, but what game - sports, gambling or intellectual, commercial?
It is not necessary to go into the dark jungle of research terminology of these concepts. You can explain what is poker, from the perspective of the people who play it in an online casino. Sports game player who finds the strongest, most clever, or the most intelligent. For example, in chess - winner is the one who is smarter. In gambling outcome is highly dependent on chance, just like a game of roulette in a casino online.
Intellectual commercial game being always on the cash rate. For example, in chess for money bet wins, who smarter. He and break the bank. But if the game was originally founded element case, even a good player can not always predict your winnings. It's like betting on sports. These games include bridge, whist and poker.
Over time, poker becomes still closer to gambling. More precisely, it is halfway between gambling, sports and games of skill, combining all the features inherent in each type of game.
So many fans and playing poker. They like its singularity. In poker, there are sports, and intelligence, and passion.

Poker is a game of chance and there are people who suffer from poker when you lose everything

Poker is before all intellectual game. Sport. And like every top athlete takes a lot of effort, investment and perseverance to USPA. If the private life of dignified, family, career, then the order can come and poker. I'm learning. Persistent alone. And rightfully hope success. Good luck to everyone!

Anyone can become a pro poker player, but the thing is many players have the wrong idea what a Pro is, they think they will study for a year, play some games, go to wsop and win the main event... that is not pro poker, that is winning the lottery, pro poker is grinding 8 hours a day for rent and food and being dedicated to study.

I can kind of see your point. But I disagree with this part

"But I think it's important for everyone here grinding who's maybe not providing themselves with a comfortable living from poker not to over invest all their energy into the game, just relax keep the right mindset and discipline and if its meant to be it will happen, if its not meant to be I assure you life will have better and bigger plans for you, even if right now poker is in your mind your dream destiny."

I am a strong believer that things dont just happen just because its "meant to be". Things happen due to hours and hours and hours of working on your craft. I dont know your situation, but perhaps you didnt make it big at poker because you didnt want it as much as you wanted your other career choice.

For me several years back I was a losing player, then worked on it a bit and I became a break even player, Then I worked a bit harder and won a couple of hundred a month. Earlier in this year I won about £450+ in 1 month through even more research, watchin videos and asking questions and just sickening playing hours. Since then I relaxed and put in less hours, guess what, I went down to only winning around £250 a month.

For all you microstakes grinders reading this.....Ok some might have better ability, but there is no reason you could not work hard on your game and be making £500+ a month through just a few hours a night. But you got to want it bad enough. Who knows, if you want it more than me there is no reason you cant be pulling £750 or £1,000 or £2,000+ But you gotta be having some crazy ar** work ethic.

I'm not so sure unless you use a HUD and your super analysing all the time there isn't as much hard graft needed as people think.

In my experience The fundamentals are like riding a bike once you watch enough videos and learn enough strategy you become your own theorist, and you have the ability to observe players and use the correct strategy to the given situation depending on all the variants, playing styles stack sizes and wheter your playing cash or tournament poker.

I play online seriously, like a long MTTs one evening or two evenings a week, and I might throw in a sit and go sesh or a cash session to live/online.
Bearing in mind I am 2 tabling max, I'll make at least £50-100 profit from a cash game extremely rare I have a losing session, one since october, and maybe broke even once and I'll cash in most MTTs 'this sounds dumb but I dont even need a bankroll because UK players are so bad I'll just cash out my profit every week and start over off the same 150.00.
Granted I don't like playing for too many hours I think it pays dividends in profit keeping it sharp and focused.

But yeah... sorry to go on about my personal wins/losses they aren't so important but what I was getting at is as long as you are thinking right and you are observing players, and playing a solid range, respecting your position
once you have learnt the fundamentals you know a good poker strategy read some good books, you only really need to keep in touch with it occasionally, it doesn't have to be a massive factor in making a profit, until you are making thousands and thousands a month.
Like the right or wrong play for that particular time will often depend on the players, and only you can make that judgement.
I can kind of see your point. But I disagree with this part

very good his thought, their willingness and perseverance. We have to have our dreams and run after what we want.
Sometimes things do not go as planned and we comes the idea to change the path. It is up to us to choose to give up or try something else.

Poker is a game of life. You make bets and risks in the game, however you mustn't risk something you cannot afford. Best of luck with your family and professional life.
