Poker Coach

Ok folks, need some feedback and advice. I'm always looking to improve my NL play. I recently came across a site in which there are a few pro's that offer to coach you and give you advise on your play, for a fee. Anyone ever thought of it? Tried it? Do you think it's worth the money?

To give you a bit of background, I've read 4 or 5 poker books, read forums daily, use Pokertracker (but don't have a clue about it), have PokerAcehud overlay etc. Not sure if a "one on one" would be beneficial or not. What do you think?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

If you can afford it and you really believe its a pro that's teaching you then go for it.
for the most part, you can get alot of sound poker advice here on your play just by posting HH in the analysis section and if these are pros offering advice for a fee, then you have to ask yourself "why ask for $, are you not making enough playing poker if your a pro?".
I can tell you I'm a poker pro and I can coach you. Do you believe me?
I didn't think so.
Just sounds suspicious to me, but if thats the course you choose then good-luck with that.

I wouldnt go for it.

1st if hes a pro as shinedown said, then the fees would have to be pretty big to justify him doing that. Secondly what kind of advice thats not found in books could he offer? Best he could do is monitor your play live and adjust it, which would be pretty cool i guess IF youre sure that this guys good enough and the fee is reasonable.

Take some time for free to learn more about PokerTracker and you'll learn exactly what the pro will tell you for a fee.

^^^ This ^^^

And you can post poker tracker questions here as well. There are many accomplished players here that use it and can answer your questions in great detail.

Thanks for the replies.

Yes if you told me you were a pro, I'd believe you, until I searched it and found out that maybe you're really not. None of this is cheap, but then again losing or not winning much isn't cheap either. I've always been a perfectionist with everything and poker is no different. But then again, Poker is not perfect. Posting HH's maybe of some help. I know I read a lot that are posted here to try and learn from them.

The two sites that were listed, I'll look into them. I have no problem spending money to become better, or having to do some extra work for it.

PT, well.....I need my wife to look at it as she understands computers and such much more than I do.
Thanks again.

My opinion is this: Read as much as you can (this forum, books on poker) and playing as much as you can, combined with your ability to play poker will take you to a certain level. Paying a professional will take you to the next level, however, it will be expensive and most people do not play poker enough to be taken to the next level, unless you're interested in becoming a semi-pro or a pro poker player.

pokertracker + books + experience + natural ability to adapt = good poker player

spending money for someone to tell you how to play abc poker = break even player at a LAG table
