Poker chips/chip sets?

Hey guys I would appreciate it plenty if you guys can help me find some poker chips to buy... I don't wanna spend too much money. I'm looking for at least a 500-1000 piece chip set and looking to spend about a maximum of $500 total. I'm playing .50/$1 home game and with a tournament here and there, but mostly looking for chips for a cash game. I can use the chip value as the same anyway. Thanks a lot. Any help is appreciated guys

There is usually a large selection in size of the set, quality of the chips and prices on eBay. 'Google' also offers a large selection of sites to compare.

I got lucky and found some clay chip sets at a general drugstore store, of all places.. Looks like there are a lot of leftovers from the monster boom a few years back, and maybe you can get lucky. YMMV.

You sound like you want a nice set. My advice: get the best. Spring for an extra $250 or so and get a 500 piece Paulson set, like the Top Hat & Cane series. These are great! Those cheap sets are cheap feeling next to the Paulsons. The only other option I see is the Next Gen chips, which feel almost like the Paulsons, a bit lighter maybe, but still a nice feel at a fraction of the price. Avoid all those heavy metal-inserted sets. They feel terrible, sound terrible, and won't impress real cardroom players.

Here ya go. Some great $500 500 chip sets.

http://www.apachepokerchips.com/

I just ordered several samples from them. They arrived today. The Private Cardroom ones are neat, but I still prefer the Top Hat and Cane chips (they're the same as the Private set except for the center design). If you want a Dollar sign denomination on the chip, then my favorite is the Paulson Pharaoh's Casino type. The Paulson National series is another favorite of mine without a Dollar sign. On the Apache page, the James Bond chips look kind of cool, but I think they are too heavy and slippery. The Dunes chips seem a bit lightweight. If I ever get a new home set, I'm holding out for the Paulsons. Currently, I just have a Bicycle set, and really, they're pretty decent. You can buy these in a toy store.

With that kind of budget you could have custom chips made with your own design.

650 of these cost me $175 shipped (+$50 to the guy who did the artwork for me).

Here are the chips I ordered and recieved a week ago.I got 1000 total chips w/acrylic case and 10 chip trays. I broke the denominations down as follows so I could have a 20 person tournament (starting stack of $10000) and a 10 person cash game. Now if I configured the chips different I could do a larger tournament.

200 = $1 gray
200 = $5 red
25 = $25 green
225 = $100 black
175 = $500 purple
150 = $1000 yellow
25 = $5000 pink

The entire set up including shipping cost me 127.95 they are 14 gram chips and I'm very happy. Found 1 mistake a black ship had a $100 sticker on one side and a $500 on the other I called the company and they sent me a replacement.

the set was 99.95 but I customized the amount of each color so it was $10 more but well worth it.
