First of all, I would like to acknowledge the cardschat community and forum.
Its a active, vibrant, friendly, community.
I am a lurker but hope to become a decent contributor as well.

I want to Lend/Borrow books from others, before actually buying them for myself/reference
because most books are tollay rubbish and others are duplicates, etc

Psychology of Poker by Alan Schoonmaker

Schoomaker's two new books, 'Your Worst Poker Enemy' and 'Your Best Poker Friend' are better picks. Psych of Poker is mostly dedicated to player profiling along Loose/Tight, Passive/Aggressive lines.

Yes, i am aware that its a limit book. But I have heard its an extremely good book and gets you thinking about the game, though, you are right, their focus is on limit and online games.

Will definately check out some reviews of the new books by Alan.

Hey guys, this is my first post on here. I am a long time player of poker, but only recently have I attacked this hobby/passion of mine the same way I would studying for my professional certification and applying it to my career. I am a CPA by trade and a total theory geek. I am still no where close to an expert on the topic but here is my two sense.

A lot of the poker books recycle the same information because it is all relevant. It is important to take pieces from all of them and come up with your own theory and style that works for you. One book on my top "to read" list is "Elements of Poker". I actually tried buying it today online but Best Buy book store was out and I want to use a giftcard I have. ANyways, this book offers more than starting hands and pot odds. The author is a talented poker coach and offers his own theory and terminology... and it works.

Anyone who has read it please comment also.

PS That list of books you own is quite impressive. I have been so busy studying for my CPA tests that I have not devoted the time to reading that I would like. Good luck to all and please don't steal my pots .

Mike Caros Book of Tells should be on this list. Great book and even good video interpretation of the book.
