Poker Book Reviews

Hey Guys,

Was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of some reviews of good Poker books on the forum. i've got a gift card to Borders, and was looking to see what books are better than others.

Ive searched around the site a bit, with no such luck. So if you could post a thread with much discussion of different books, or if you just want to post your knowledge of different books you've read. That would be much appreciated.

Here's some extra advice about Borders:

If you haven't joined the Borders rewards club yet, do it now! They send coupons in your email nearly every week for 20-40% off one book. Nothing like getting "Super System 2" for $21 instead of $35. You also accumulate value points from each purchase and can use the value towards another purchase later on. Killer deals in the rewards club!

Another option is to buy two books at once on Amazon. I picked up the Harrington on Holdem set (1 and 2 at the time) for $29. Up to $37 for the pair, but always worthwhile to check Amazon when a new book drops.

Personally, HOH was incredibly helpful for me and I actually placed in money in two live tournaments immediately after reading it. (Holy infomercial!) Read Vol 3 and I noticed an uptick in my profits for a bit. I've found that his books really get me to focus on solid play, whereas if I haven't really put effort into reading for a while... I start to play looser and piss away stupid hands. Based on my current streak, I'm guessing I need to start reading again

I read that new online poker book "What no one else is saying about online poker" A friend of mine recommended it to me but I was reluctant after reading all the negative posts on 2+2 forum. I went ahead and bought it and found it very interesting and educational. Much of what I already new yet many things I never really considered. I then went to the 2+2 forum to post my opinion to find the thread locked. My friend explained that 2+2 is also a poker book publisher and puts these negative threads under the search engines for the name of the book and block anyone from entering a positive post. It was obvious after reading the posts and then the book, not one of them could of possibly read the book in the first place. Wonder why someone would do that?? Don't know if this site is a publisher but they obviously want you to read what they sell. I will usually choose a book by word of mouth. This author (unknown to the poker world) is obviously not a seasoned writer but seems to be shooting from the hip , and the 7,000 hours he claims to have spent playing and researching online poker is very believable. I give it an 8 rating out of ten.
