I saw that program being sold on the internet about 2 years ago, the sites that were mentioned on the program I stopped playing. Funny thing was not only did the guy make money cheating, he made legit money selling the software.

If you play poker and are a member of this site, which you probably do and are because you are reading this! The news story wasn't anything you've probably hadn't heard before. They talked about on AP how an employee was cheating by looking at the hole cards. They also talked about Russ (I don't remember his last name, someone help me out), who won the wsop many years ago. Russ and up to five of his friends, using mutiple accounts cheated people out of an estimated $20 million.

That's something I've wondered. I'm an honest guy, I would never cheat in poker!!! But how often do you think a team of people will sit down togeather at multiple tables and comunicate what their hole cards are to one another through Instant messaging or something. That would give you a huge advantage if you knew two of your buddies threw away A rag or whatever in a hand, or you could be in a four way pot with two of your buddies and bullie the lone player out. Do you think this happens a lot? How can that type of stuff be stopped?

Basically a non event, not once did they ask any of the online players "do you still play online". Numerous times the stated that online poker is illegal in the US and once in canada,,,,wrong (except for the certain states). It seemed more concerned that the perpetrators were not prosecuted. I'm assuming the main guy they interviewed was "crazy marco" , he said it could still be going on at any site with more care being taken, personally, I doubt it.

Heard that it mentioned online poker was illegal in the US. Did it say anything worse? How'd it portray the existing online poker sites?

It said online poker was illegal at least 6 times throughout the show lol. Nothing worse was really said - except unfortunately the guy who uncovered this left the impression that this could still be going on at UB and AB - and at other poker sites as well.

They didn't mention any other sites other then AP and UB. Although, a guy that plays online poker for a living said that you never know if the table you are at is legit, as in poeple could be working together, or the same thing with hole cards could be going on at other sites.

Isn't it strange how mainstream media continues to call online poker illegal, even when discussing the game with high stake online players. If it's illegal, then why hasn't anyone been arrested for playing online?

A rather bland story. I thought it strange that they didn't mention or interview people from other sites, especially the two biggest sites-FT,PS. They also acted like the Kahnawake Gaming Commission was the only game in town. Too bad they didn't say how other countrys allow and regulate online poker. It would have been nice to hear from PS or FT about security and how they keep there sites liget.

This is false. There was no program, it was a hole in the original code that was exploited. No one sold software and no software can view hole cards.

As to the OP, the obvious problem with this is that it deters the casual gambler, ie the money source of online poker. If fish stop depositting, poker gets less and less profitable to the point where it is impossible to beat the rake.

Well, it said to the affect that online poker is illegal in the US but the law cannot be enforced because the servers are off-shore. I took that like they were saying that running an online poker site was illegal in the US, but they didn't say playing it was.

Also, Dan Druff said that cheating like this could be still going at other sites by people that aren't greedy enough to get caught. CBS saved that for last and I think that statement hurt worse than any of the other things that were said.

Overall, sure it was bad. But I thought this report would be a lot worse than it was. My opinion: Pretty weak on the "bad for online poker" scale.

With that worthless slimeball Bush confirming restrictions on banks for the UIGEA this is not the kind of show we as poker players needed. Anything that shows up online poker as potentially bad is detrimental to all sites since all sites have had or will have some type of cheating going on. It goes on in brick and mortar casinos too.

It's all old news, nothing new so why show it now? Why didn't they do the show back when the news was fresh? I think it's all got to do with the US gambling companies keeping this story out as if it were still happening.

What surprised me most of all was the comment, "the shady world of online poker". Does Bush the loser control CBS ? If his family was involved like they are in the oil biz, the US might be at war with countries that outlaw online poker. Geez, he must be the only president who broke all the commandments, admited he did not "covet his neighbours wife" he did however screw his country for his own benefit.

lol if you think Bush/Republicans are the only corrupt politicians that want power over freedom and if you think Fox News is the only biased news station, you've got some things to learn. The media's there to make money. CBS doesn't give a shit about our right to play poker and neither do the majority of Democrats.
