PLO

Hey all just wanted some input on really the proper way to go about PLO, or if anyone knew of a training video (has to be free though, as i'm broke ), or if anyone on CC can do a video of a PLO session, so I can get better at the game.

As for myself, my way of playing is more or less tight preflop, never raise, I could care less if I have AAKKo, and it's been raised preflop to me, but if I have AAKKs on the other hand, then i'm willing to pot, other then that I love semi connectors, and straightening cards. That's about all I can tell really tell you about my game, so any help or input would be most appreciated

thx all

There is a good PLO book by Jeff Hwang that I would recommend.

Playing tight preflop isn't a terrible strategy, as you're less likely to force enough people out preflop with a raise than you would be in NLHE. And you want to be seeing flops with strong hands. But don't play so tight as to not take advantage of your big drawing hands. You want to occasionally raise 3x to build the pot up alittle bit.

Always draw to the nuts. Be prepared to fold BIG hands. You flop a nut straight but a flush possibility hits on the turn, you are going to have to fold.

Also, the PLO Double or Nothing SNGs on Stars are nice bankroll builders.

That is a game of action, you can see alot of flops, but if your drawing only be drawing with hands that give you the nuts. See alot of pots cheap, call raises with good starting hands. The starting hands should allways be double suited, and nut draw value. Stay away from hands that take away your outs, hands like 3 or more of one suit, or cards that complete a straight. Since you would need them to make your hand. Hands that get u in trouble are hands like 5689, not only are u taking away outs for a straight, but even if u hit your straight most of the time your guessing if it's good. My favorite starting hand is AAj10 double suited. Position is also very important, even more than in hold'em.

re: PLO poker

There is an article in Poker Pro Magazine from October called "Farha's Fight" which talks a bit about PLO. http://www.thepokerpromagazine.com//...881&Item id=2 He's apparently considered one of the best in the game so I would recommend his Farha on Omaha book. I haven't read it myself but I did skim through it once at a bookstore and it seems promising.
