Playing The Pros

Just wondering, have any of you played the pros on fulltilt or in live poker?

I think it would be fun, and exciting to play them, But I get the impression that a lot of people play just to be playing with them. I'm sorry, I would like to play with them of course, BUT GIVE ME THE MONEY! LOL. I wouldn't play with them to be able to say I played with them, I want to play them and BEAT them badly lol. Am I alone here. If You have played a pro and have a story, or like to watch the pros play at full tilt Your responce and story would be appreciated. Thanks and Have fun at the tables everyone!!!

I played a Razz tournament with a couple of name-brand players (name-brand in Australia, anyway) at my table at our state championships a month or so back... and they kicked my butt.

I wouldn't go out of my way to play with any pro, unless I was just writing off the money as an entertainment expense.

I played against Victor Ramdin, David Singer, and Robert Williamson III in the 2006 WSOP Stud H/L tourney. I nearly busted Ramdin when I rivered a pair of Jacks to his pair of 10s.

It is fun to play against them, but I didn't really treat them any differently.

If your a good experienced player, online against pros should pretty much be an even playing field. Live against pros a different animal.

The pros playing in big tourneys online, don't seem to do much better then anyone else. Cash games 100/200 and up having endless bankrolls a different story.

I've had the opportunity to play Chris Ferguson at both play chip and low limit tables. I also played Perry Feirdman at Omaha-8 (I had nut nut and quartered him which was nice). Over the holiday season last year quite a few of the pros were on daily in the lower limits.

Once about a year ago a pro sat down at one of my micro limit tables and basically gave money away. He'd tell people when he hit a hand for example. He was very friendly and ended up giving away like $10 in total maybe. I can't for the life of me remember who it was though. Made the table fun, he was quite friendly and was just having some fun.

Yeah he is. The only other person to parlay a few good showings in tourneys into a sponsorship is Vanessa Rousso. And we all know the only reason she's on Team PokerStars.

Chip Jett has a low-limit razz table on Full Tilt, and I've played with both him and his wife, Karina, there.

And I swear there was a guy who looked just like Scott Fischmann at a midnight tourney I played at the Stratosphere, but I'm sure Fischmann doesn't play $60 tourneys. (?)

Karina, Annie Duke, and Alex Outhred were going to play in the satellite held at the WSOP Academy I attended this summer, but a vote was taken and only about half the students wanted them to play and half didn't. (I was in the half that did, but the others thought their chances of making the top 10 would be diminished.) Oh well... I'm attending another one in November so hope to get to play with some of the pros then.

Has anyone noticed the pros staying away from no limit holdem on full tilt?

Almost everytime I look they are playing either omaha, or mixed games like horse. Sorry but nl holdem NEVER gets old to me =)

Perhaps they are better at those games than they are at hold em?

Doesn't surprise me - they're likely to have a bigger edge they can exploit in those games

I played 2006 WSOP Pot Limit Omaha Hi-Lo World Champ Lee Watkinson for a couple of hours at a $1/$2 heads-up table on Full Tilt last fall. Took right at $400 from him. Won a $300 pot from Phil Ivey at a $2/$4 NLHE table about a year ago. Also have two Full Tilt "bounty" tee-shirts for knocking out 1996 WSOP Main Event winner Huck Seed and 8-time WSOP bracelet winner Erik Seidel from MTT's. I've been at the same table with a lot of the Full Tilt pros in tourneys...Erick Lindgren, Chris Ferguson, Chip Jett, Jennifer Harman, Andy Bloch, etc. Biggest surprise was playing in a tourney with Matusow for about an hour and a half. He never opened his chat to say a word the entire time. Made me wonder if it was really him.
