Playing poker as an escape.

So. Who else is in this bad habit?

If you are having problems and don't want to deal with them why not just sit your arse in front of computer and tune it all out?

Your wife/husband is annoying the piss out of you.

The dog chewed the couch and you don't want to pick up all that fluffy stuffing crap.

You have a funeral you should really be going to.

Your daughter just told you see is pregnant, the father is Sam Grizzle.

Just common every day problems but instead of dealing with them you use poker as an escape and end up losing your bankroll again because you are playing pissed/tired with emotion. I'll never learn.

Anyone want to loan me some self control?

You have to help yourself here, but I know a lot of people have found the book. "The Poker Mind Set" very helpful with tilt control etc, you might want to check it out.

I've your same problem...often plays when i'm not of the right "humor" and easily go on tilt!!
I promised myself to nomore plays at cash tables when i'm in this status, max i'll do a tourney!!

Might not be a bad idea to get another hobby that you like as much as poker. I like guitar.

Too much poker puts me teetering on tilt.

Well I dont think its bad to play cards to escape your trobles but then agine it could also add to them..Id say if you play just freerolls while you hott it may be ok so that way you dont lose any real money and just get even more pissed off. gl to ya

i cant play poker if my Lady has been on my ass all day . normally like to get everything done for tha day and they actually sit down and go to work on tha tables . Jam some tunes and just get away from everything around me . but my gurl is pretty chill so i really can say that she would be a problem towards my game online

I play as an escape all the time, but I go into an auto pilot mode. As long as the cards aren't ridiculous I will do alright, I just won't try to make any great plays at pots.

be careful. not only will you play your worst poker but it could turn unhealthy quickly. Keep poker as a fun thing and font let the outside world ruin it.

I use to play to get away from all the noise of my house (Yet all that day was, really make it hard to play). What I mean, is I have 3 young kids, me and my GF) so kids being kids will tend to fight/ bite/ scratch/ piss/puke/ yell/run, and you know kid shit there-fore making it extremly hard to concentrate, that's why now I play when there awake for fun, and don't really let it get to me. As for if I had to go to a funeral thing would I play poker as an escape....Really Nah, i'd prolly do something else, just think to myself, and escape in pure remenisful thoughts, but then again that's just me.

try alcohol.... but dont try to drink and play too much at the same time...

I play only to fight boredom, if you're doing it to avoid doing something else, then I guess that's a problem, and that sort of problems usually don't solve themselves. Wouldn't suggest alcohol or stuff, your "solution" may become a bigger problem pretty soon
