Playing for 3 hrs and all bad hands... Does this ever happen to anyone? I play for about 3 hours in pokerstars and fulltilt, and I have only about 3 good starting hands, everything else are bad , outta position, less than 10, and no pairs. 3 hours straight! I was in a SnG, and playing tight hoping to get a great hole card to get my money going, but throughout the whole tourne about 1 hour in, i got NOTHING! and ended up killed by the blinds. I noticed some days you get tons of good hands, and some days u get NOTHING at all. Oh, btw, i'm new to the forum, nice to greet you all.

Yup. Sounds familiar. I actually had a similar run at CelebPoker yesterday (although nowhere near 3 hours), never seeing the flop except on the blinds. Lost most of my stack in a 5c/10c SnG (a whopping $1), and just before quitting with 40c left (would've had the big blind in the next round), I FINALLY got some good cards, and ended up doubling my money. OK, so $2.04 ain't gonna let me quit my job - but still better than losing a buck. I've now made $4.04 from scratch at Celeb (in less than a week since starting to play poker properly), moneying in two $50 freerolls (one final table), and that buck from the SnG. Since I haven't won anything anywhere else, I am hereby officially declaring a fish-alert! (Or maybe I just got lucky...)

re: Playing for 3 hrs and all bad hands... poker I have had long periods where cards just aint coming. Thats the way it goes. And you cant win if you are not getting good cards but you can still hold your own. To many people put to much into the opinions of the book writters. They are all over the place on many issues but when they all tend to agree it's with certain things. (starting hands) and no one ever seems to talk about what you do when cards arent coming. I spend most of my time hitting the fold button but when I do hit the call or raise button it,s because I have a hand to play. I have found that the most important thing you can do playing poker is to have a lot of patience.

Absolute I just played a tourney at Absolute Poker.... you talk about bad hands. I only had pocket cards with both being above "6" twice!!!!!!! And then of course the ever constant idiots who go all in on just about any face card didn't help make things any better! To make things worse I only got one pocket pair (7's), and I lost the hand! That is by far the worse hands I've ever been dealt. Somehow I made it past more than half the competition, but still finished worse than I have in a very long time. The way I see it is, your just going to have one of those days every once in awhile. If it was guaranteed your cards are always going to be the best, tournaments in the later stages would take forever! I have witnessed several good players, having the same string of bad luck, then going all in on pocket Aces or Kings. Just to let you know, if I see you fold 32 hands in a row, then go all in chances are your only stealing the blinds!!!

| Speaking of Cold cards I played the other night and made a mention in the chat box, that I had won 1 pot in 39 hands. I played some starting hands, but every flop came out opposite. K-Q and the flop comes down 4-6-7h, following a Pot size bet. As-5s and the Flop goes 9-7-J diamonds. Then the other idio-sync happens.. Get K-10 Suited and the flop come 5-5-2 turn 3 river 4. The next hand I get Pkt. 5's and the flop plays my previous hand K-10-Q followed by pot sized bets.. this went on for 45 mins. as 39 hands usually take in MTT. Then the break. After the break Blinds go up my Stack is getting precariously Low, and make my comment about not winning any pots.. the other players (lol'd) and said you were counting?? What else to do when it is fold-fold-fold-FOLD....limp in - FOLD Raise, Con't. Bet, get Re-Raised~~FOLD!!! Beyond Going on TILT..I waited since 'The Way it Goes' -scenario- get down to 2xBB left in the stack against monster stacks and A-A hit your BB and everyone folds to you. HA HA HA... So it goes on, and I got almost another orbit (since I have no real Bluff equity) and UTG+1 I get K-K so..I limp in and get five also-limp-ins. The blinds are 100/200 and the flop come out K-Q-J..rainbow ~Great for me *except straight draws..I push All-In and get every player in calling...uh-ohhh..great..turn shows A...and the flurry begins the pot is about 4500 to this point and am frozen out of the side pot and so the river comes out Q with possible flush and straight draws. There's me and 3 players left in the pot...(I got K's full ofQ's) hoping no on has A-A.. Showdown and no-one had a straight, one had K-J the other had A pair I won the main pot and the side pot was about 2300 so I took down almost 5K in one hand after nothing. I went on to finish in PS-'Hubbles' NLHE Freeroll in 112/10,000... so the next to last hand can make it or impatient TILT can blow the whole tourney. One other thing (call it torture) but I will sometimes, after getting Blinded out or losing a good hand to a better one...watch the seat I WAS at and see what cards may play in that spot. And the uncanny thing is to see if the seat 'really' is a dud or the seat gets hot. (10-15 mins. is long enough on the rail) The other Reality is not the amount of hands won in a MTT, but the Amount of the Pots won that really matter. I looked at my stats one MTT where I went deep top 20/8,000 and I noticed that I had won 28 hands at showdown, and 8 with no showdown. So I won 36 pots Total and 1/3 were in the first 5 levels of Blinds. Total hands I believe to be around 265-290 to that point..5+ hours in. ~~Like BlackJack..one player takes 'one' extra card and messes the rest of the table up..and the Dealer hits BlackJack!~~ Last edited by Flops'm&Bets'm : 13th September 2007 at 5:25 AM.
