Unquestionably annoying. Probably not very effective. I find it especially annoying when people do it early on in the tourney. There are some on FT and other sites that do exactly that throughout the tourney, i think just to annoy others and get them to make a mistake. They will.............................................. ................... Run down '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' '''''''''''''the clock ..............................................ever y time. On/near the bubble I can understand if they are a small stack, hoping someone else goes out before they do....but still find it somewhat annoying.

Definitly an annoying move, but definitly can be useful. I don't play many tourneys, but when I do I will try to manipulate things so that the blind increases will hit strategic people, or happen just past me. As to doing it continuously, it is obnoxious, but I suppose if you are going to do it as a means of letting more people bust out it would be most effective to do in an MTT early on and all the way through. Added side effect of possibly tilting opponents at your table speeding their demise as well, and you're probably playing ultratight till the blinds get bigger if you're doing this anyway. If its within the rules and you feel you can use it to benefit yourself I guess you're a fool to not do it. Still obnoxious though.

I hate when people do it but at the same time if i am the small stack and close to the MONEY, i will try to go slow because someone might takea bad beat and go out or go on tilt and than yo can make the money, but most of the time yes i hate it when people do that

There are certain players that take all their allotted "time" with each turn. I have wondered this myself and I think you should be given a total amount of time that, once it expires, you only get maybe 7 seconds to make a decision. I have honestly seen some players take all their time just to put the other players on tilt and unfortunately, it works. It certainly affects the game as the blinds on Bodog are set to ten minutes at most tables.

/...being honest, ive used this on a couple of occasions....last time was the 22 dollar double deuce on full tilt...it was very close to the money, I was 2 hands away from being BB, which woulda put me all in...i cliked time, jhad 60 seconds...took all the time i could, and in that time lots of peolpe got knocked out, to an extent that we were playing hand for hand, and somene got knocked out and i got paid..so time wasting made me 31 dollars...it can be good, but ive seen chip leaders do it constanrtly,i figure theyd want to play as many hands as possible near bubble??.

I agree with thejuan, if I can slow down the all in crowd it might make it easier to last awhile until I get moved |

There are definitely reasons for taking some time off your clock. One is not acting too quickly in order to give off a certain impression with your play. There are also several legitimate reasons for waiting out the clock when on the bubble or when trying to make a certain player hit a higher blind when those change. Then there are also times when you are fixing food or ran to the bathroom and your clock runs I do hate people that take all of their time every time, but if it is part of the game then it’s OK. I just think most of the time you know what you are going to do. There are only a few circumstances that should really require you to think a long time. But every time? Not sure why to play that way.

I have pulled the old let the clock run out trick before to make the $ in a few tournys before. Its not that useful when every table is doing it. It has helped me though and i realize it is annoying at times but works occasionaly

i have never done it on purpose but sometimes i am multitabling a whole lot of tables and this happens to me. i will be in a tough decision on one table and will need some extra time on that table and so all the other tables that i am playing might have timed out or the timer is running. this happens often late in the tourney as there are lots of tough decisions that you need to make for most of your stack. so that might be a reason why you guys see the chip leader or others running down the timer, some might be doing it to stall some time but most likely they are mass multitabling and are busy on another table.

re: Players that let there timer run to the end (online poker) Its actually pretty affective. Ive seen it done alot and love it when all of a sudden they shove all in like they don't have As or Ks and want a call. Even better when they get beat.

It amazes me how mad some people get at the start of big tourneys. The tourney is going to last for hours, unless you get knocked out. lol. Some will start going all in because they had to wait to play their 25off. I will use it if I had played for hours, got a bad beat and don't want to bubble. The time is there for a reason and when you need it use it. I won't use it til I need to though.

The weird thing about this is sometimes because they got caught stealing so they might want to make it look like a hard lay down and try to win back some respect that they hand before from playing tight before changing gears. Just a thought

Ahhhhh yes. I have seen players do this too. Most of the time when they get called they have something like Jack/6 offsuit or some other donkish hand such as low pair on the board. |

It drives me nuts when people play slow but I guess its their privilege to do that and a lot are playing in multiple tourneys and use this for that probably they should have a limit and how many you can play in but the sites are in it to earn money so they dont care but they could lose some dues to this but on the other hand to reach the cash I think its ok but I dont do it just because I dont want people hollering at me lol.
