| i personally think that the player tracker systems that produce a players roi is at best wishful thinking on how bad/good a poker player really is. i personally last time i saw had a negative20% roi rating on pokerstars, this is without a doubt horrible info to post and or give someone seeking true player ratings! does it make me such a horrible player when i have aa and get it all in vs 44 and lose to the 2 outer river? or how about when i flop the nut straight and some maniac shoves on a flush draw and i insta call only to be rivered by a flush? or when i flop a set and lose to a river straight? hell, ive even lost while holding 4444 on a 449 flop to someone holding pocket 9s only to see him hit bigger quads on the river. point im trying to make is if im a 95% favorite when i get my chips all in the pot, only to lose to that 2 or 3 outer river CONSTANTLY on both ftp as well as pokerstars how can you justify a players skill level based on all the constant outdraws they lose to? how can you say someones not a good player when they lose this way every single session they play? I personally think its kid of harsh and unfair myself. all feedback is wanted and welcome, and thx all for reading |

| Well i wouldhave to say that if your roi is -20% you are losing more then just the few bad beats you are describing. At low stakes you will always see bad beats like you have described, but your roi is based on more then a few bad beats. You need to be honest with yourself and understand that you have some leaks that need to be fixed. GL PokerJoe |

| Sounds like you're probably being too results oriented, and/or looking at too small a sample size as lik suggested. Over the long haul, if you're really playing your hands right and getting it all in in a +EV scenario, you'll profit and your ROI/winrate will show it. Beats are going to happen no matter what. It's variance, and sometimes the downswing is excruciatingly long and slow to turn around. But if you're honest with yourself, chances are you set yourself up for a lot of those losses. As far as tracking software being worthwhile, of course it is. This is a game of numbers and unless you're Rain Man, there's no way you'll accurately keep up with the amount of stats and calculations necessary to spot your own leaks as well as those of your opponents. Don't blame the software or write it off as useless just because you don't feel successful with it. Maybe you're putting TOO much trust in a cold stat? |

I'm guessing you're looking at too small of a sample size. |
