Play Money

Hi I play poker for fun, So I play play money alot.
The other night I was in a tournament the other night. I had K 10 off suit. I think that I raised double the blind befor the flop. The flop hits and it is K 10 of dimonds and 6 of hearts. I go all in to scare the fishers away. They call. After calling me one guy had 462 in chips ,the otherhad 10 in chips the other folded. The turn was a 7 of spades. They both check. The river was a 9 of something. The guy with 462 in chips puts the 10 in. Well the guy ended with a stright K to 9. The guy with 10 chips had K 3 off.

I was wondering how do I scare flush and stright draws off ?

Or did I do the right thing?

The only way to get out of it is play for real money because you get tits like me that only go to play money to piss about - I go there if I am on tilt sometimes rather than crazy play with my bankroll!

If you aren't going to play with real money, the only way to avoid tilters is to play in the freerolls. Wait a few hands (sometimes up to 20) and then start playing. Usually after most of the donks get busted, people aren't so willing to call those big raises on draws, because nobody wants to get busted before they hit the cash.

I concur....When I play fake money I will stay on my draw till the end cause "Hey it's FREE!" The only way to scare them off is in the real money games.

Don't beleive the myth that you clear out the donks when you play real money games. There are donks, drunks, tilted, and people with more money than brains at all but the highest levels.

If you are trying to develop your game try to play higher play chip levels. You can build almost a 100,000 play chip fortune without playing a hand! I saw a post about it once and tried it out of boredom while waiting for freerolls to start. That is why play at the 2,000 level on FT is such a joke.

But is you really want to play some decent poker without depositing, you have two choices. One build a play chip bankroll and play at the 10,000 buy-in level or above. The play gets decent. Two build a bankroll from freerolls.

I'm damn near a poker novice and I've managed to build a very modest bankroll from playing freerolls for about 3 months. The open freerolls are pretty tough to cash and take 5 hours plus to make the final table. Private freerolls like cardschat, rounders radio, and railbirds, offer smaller fields, higher payouts, and a flatter (more generous) play out often paying top 10% or more.

Good luck,

D$D

I agree with DMD. Especially about the better play at the 10K level.

And fyi, once you get 1/2 mil play money at Full Tilt, rumor has it a few daily small field freerolls become available. One of these days soon, maybe even today, I will make the push to the 500K mark. Currently in the high 300K's.

I also agree that the play gets better at the higher play money levels, but even if you do build it up to like 1 or 2 mil, what are you gonna do with it?

Well other sites other than FT there is suposed to be a market for playchips around $10.00 per million. I have no experience with this but have heard of both sucesses and failures.

On FT for 1/2 a million there is a daily game for a $40.00 prize pool at 8:20 pm ET.

There is also a 1 million playchip buy-in at least weekly on Sunday, but the prize pool is more playchips.

I know that you can sell play chips for $10 per million, but that is just not worth it in the slightest. By the time you have built up 1 or 2 mil in play chips, you could of easily made more than $10-$20 from free rolls.

I have tried to scare them with play chips but, the problem is that its play money. The tounaments seem to be better than the regular tables though.

That surely does NOT happen at PokerStars. I have had 2 million and nothing extra.

What you get for big play chip stacks is the depth to play maximum (80,000) S&G buy-ins and not have as many donks playing.

I once had a keyboard that didn't have punctuation keys. I got rid of it.

I also don't suggest getting a keyboard that has the CAPS key on 24.7

It's kinda weird...I played in only play money tourneys and ring tables for years, so naturally I thought things would be different when I finally decided to play in a few real money tourneys and tables. But people still call with silly cards. I was amazed at how much people on the real money tables will call on a draw...or with top pair low kicker...even when top pair is only an 8. lol.
