Play chips trading for CASH!???

I don't have any idea about this until this guy whom i had a chat with told me that he is making about $500 a month selling his play money chips! now how come i haven't heard of this one before!? i did not even know that this is possible... and it answers my question why lots of players are still playing on play money tourney thinking they were just wasting their time. So now i get it!
now i search for sites that are buying play money chips for different poker clients such as pokerstars and fulltilt. does any of you guys know about this? are you also playing the same way sometimes to earn? do you have any recommended sites who are legit that are buying/selling play money chips???

I never heard off any sites buying play chips but have heard off a few selling play chips for certain sites.Not sure what sites do it but I noticed when you play at a play money table that sometimes something will pop up saying if you want to buy some play chips go here.1 million play chips for X amount off dollars.

If you just searched the forums for this you'd find plenty of threads all about it..

It's crazy, I never could understand why someone would pay you real money for your play chips. At FT they beg all the time. Insane. or maybe I am missing something here. Gl at the tables all

My understanding is that as the play chip market has become more well-known, the sites that have been buying and selling them have become overwhelmed with inventory in the last 6 months and prices have been going down.

If this is not the case someone with more direct knowledge can correct me.

With the growth of FreeRolls, it is my opinion that is the much more lucrative way to go when comparing against trying to make money with play chips.

wtf... play chips are so easy to generate. why pay for them?
$500 / month isn't that great... better off getting a job that pays 6 times that.

the argument I have heard is that people don't want to take the time to play the low stakes play money tables and build up their balance because they feel the quality of play is low. Their reasoning is that the "better" players are playing at the high stakes play money tables, so they spend $5-10 on a million in play money chips and jump right in.

Uh... 1M playchips takes like 5-6 hours to get.

man thats nuts you get a 1000 for free all in opps i lost well i'll just get another 1000 and do it again.

just so you know if you are caught selling play chips on full tilt poker they will take your account away from you i do know some other sites allow this but full tilt does not and i had a friend who use to sell chips there but got caught by tilt and lost his account and all cash that was in it so check to make sure the site allows it before you do it

i kno on pokerstars they had this thing where when u reached a million play chips you could go to site and sell them for 10$..and if u downloaded the test site for ps..and then transfered them to the real ps website..they doubled ur play chips..idk if they do that anymore but for awhile all you had to do was get up to 500,000 play chips and transfer and itd turn into 1 million!

and so what are yall sayin that if i get up to a decent amount of play chips i could just search around the site for someone to buy them from me?

Its true. Players learning to play will actually buy play chips to play bigger games, even for no $$$. You have to build 1 million and usually will recieve $10.00

I sell my play chips to two players on FT. I sell them for 1 million chips i get 3 dollars

wow! $3 for a million chips!? the guy ripped you off man! you can sell those chips for as low as $8... just google for some sites that buys play chips

I checked out some sites and you did get ripped off big time I see one place where there is a guy selling 350000 play chips for $7.50 and another guy that sells 1 million for $10.The highest one I seen so far was $16 for 1 million.Thats crazy why would someone pay $16 for play money they would be better off just taken there $16 and play for real money.
