Phil Hellmuth VS The Big Game. Cursed or Bad play? Phil Hellmuth has a record so bad in the Big Game you'd of thought that somebody had made up his history of playing there. If you haven't seen his misfortune check it out online. Now he believes that 'something weird is going on'. He blamed e chair saying I was cursed so he moved and still lost than resorted by blaming the dealer/ the big game itself.. Now there's no denying he's been unlucky but he does get affected a lot by tilting and I have seen some horrible plays by him. What do you think? I personally think he's got unlucky but a big reason for the massive loss is because he tilts way to easy and it effects his play.

I've only seen a few of his sessions on the show so far, but generally I don't think he played well and he certainly seemed to be affected by tilt. Which is pretty much on a par with other televised cash games I've seen him play (High Stakes Poker, Poker After Dark, etc). The long-standing theory is that, despite what Phil himself maintains and despite is excellent record in tournaments, he's just not capable of playing at the same level as the top cash game players in these high-stakes games.

Phil is not a high stakes cash player from what i've seen he is a very good tourney player for many reasons, but certainly the biggest is that he can make that big lay down that some players just can not do Phil would prefer to make fewer decisions ... in cash games you can be forced to make more decisions in 2 or 3 hands than you might in an entire hour of tourney play

re: Phil Hellmuth VS The Big Game. Cursed or Bad play? poker I just don't think he's cut out for high stakes cash. He has had some hilarious beats though. Wiggins being the best but then he makes some daft calls. That loose cannon who was a maths teacher, I can't remember his name. Puts him on his exact hand then calls his straight anyway. Also calling Dwans river bet when he only had a blocker to a stone cold bluff. As much as he insists he is the best NLHE player in the world he doesn't even compare to Ivey, Dwan or Antonious as a good few others.

I remember his Pkr Aftr Dk hand against Grinder, Phill has top set on flop and Grinder has the, something like, 57 with crap on the flop Phil lets him off too easy and Grinder calls only to get the improbable straight on the river where he goes all in giving Phil a Stroke, he knows Mizarichi(?) can only beat him with the 57 and can't believe he caught a back door straight so he calls.

Helmuth is very good at extracting more chips from weaker players in tournaments. But Dwan is MUCH better at playing deepstack cash games against virtually anyone. |
