This was probably one of the few , very very few impressing phil hellmuth moments buuuut ofc he has to blow it all away at the end with his "omg i owned everyone for 20 years blablabla" speech. What a classless gimp. Nothing but mouth on him , he is like an endless bag full of insults thrown towards other fellow poker players. In real life i avoid such people as if they would have some sort of killer disease. Not worth hanging around with them unless you are sure to make a profit off them.

He is not really that good of a poker player. He just has a lot of money. Big whoop Whatever, however i love all of his Ranting its freaking hilarious! Muhahaha

If the tables were turned and Matusow did this to Hellmuth I guarantee that Phil would be pissed off and ranting about how bad the play was, he's such a hypocrite, lol. Part of it is persona but not all of it imo.

My favorite 72 bluff by far still has to be the one Chris Ferguson pulled off against Matusow after Mike blasted him hour after hour for refusing to play the 72 game. That's the stuff that makes poker geeks melt.

Phil has to bluff, the youngsters out play him on a regular basis now. Not one of the top players anymore IMO.

This is definitely one of Hellmuth's greatest moments. He isn't really all that great a player, but is definitely an entertainer!

cardplayertube has every season of high stakes poker and poker after dark cash games. have a look at the 2009 poker after dark cash games theres 1 where the table is negreanu,antonious,ivey,dwan,hansen and hellmuth they make hellmuth look like an idiot.

Yeah I don't think Hellmuth is as good as some of the other professionals.

Hellmuth isn't in the class of Dwan, Ivey, or such but its a stretch to say he isn't a good player. His game is designed do well in tournaments and his record in the WSOP as well as other tourneys speaks for itself even if he is down recently.

As for his cash game. Everyone goes on about how he doesn't do well against other top pros. Well, except for television shows I would suspect that he spends more time playing softer games. Its called game selection. The idea isn't to try to beat a table full of pros. Its to find rich fish and take them down. Look at what Dwan is doing in Macau.

In Super System Doyle Brunson emphasizes that you should leave a game with too many good players in it. It isn't profitable.

Hellmuth is a fantastic marketing tool for poker. His antics draw viewers, many of whom become new players i.e. fish.

More of a bad laydown by Matusow. Sure there were some scare cards but I would have stuck to my Kings. But I guess that's why I'm here and they're there...

I see your point. If he is still on tv, being shown as a pro poker player then he must be doing something right, maybe playing in local casinos or possibly just making money off of the fact that he IS a pro. I guess im bashing him bc I wana be were he is at. Famous and making money playing poker

im suprised he plays cash games against these players. watching it he looks terrible when he raises basically everyone folds because he plays like a nit. if he calls and someone raises he folds straight away and when he makes plays its obvious hes bluffing because when he has a good hand he trys to trap every time. hes a tournament player and should stick to that.

I think the reason he plays in these tuff cash games is because his ego wont allow him not to. He's sees his competition on TV and getting publicity and I think he'd rather be there and lose then to not be there.

I too think it's obvious that he needs to stick with tournaments and softer cash tables. His 11 bracelettes speak for themselves. Nothing wrong with sticking to what you do best. I've all but given up cash games (even though they were small stakes anyways) and am sticking to the sit and gos because that's the only area Ive consistently showed profit.

11 bracelettes show a lot of strength in tournaments and its great but I agree hes game is very bad at cash games, if he wouldn't control his reactions he could be mistaken as a beginner!
