Are people really this dense?

So, I was just in a free roll where the blind was 30/60 and I had pocket 9's. Out comes the flop 7hJsKc. I decide to go ahead and bet 250 because no one raised the pot, and no one at the table had yet made an attempt to slow play anyone. Over flips the turn, 9h. I'm thinking great, this is all mine. So, I raise 500, and then get raised 500. So, I crack a little smile and call. To my surprise, I get raised 1,000 (like 4/5 of the guys chips). At this point my smile goes from to , thinking I just got played, but it was still highly unlikely, so I call. Over turns the river and its a 3h. So here I am, cheesin' it again, and decide to go ALL IN, YEAH!!! But, so does the donkey. Hmmm

Over turns our hands, and I reveal my 3 of a kind 9's . I'm waiting for the chips to come my way, and as I take a sip of my drink feelin' good about my chances in this freeroll, the damn chips go over to the numb nut who drew a damn flush.

This FOOL actually blew most of his stack on a 4h8h hand on a flop like that and then goes all in attempting to draw a flush on the last 2 cards. Seriously can't believe that. Hope people don't do this crap with cash.

For his sake, I hope he isn't over the age of 18 yet.

Yeah they are that dense. Certainly at the smallest tables. I think the idea boils down to losing a little to win a lot. Of course that's long term.

Yeah, I will be making most of my profit off of them in the long run. At the time I was a little pissed though, and it was unreal. But it didn't scare me or anything, and my fire is still lit.

I still have great problems with them if I'm not concentrating on the game - I've actually taken to avoiding them and concentrating on taking chips off the better players, simply because of the risk of busting out to someone who got lucky.

Having said that, I've seen some complete idiots play $1-2 SnG's too, the problem isn't confined to freerolls.

On freerolls the first couple of hands are usually like that, but by the blind levels you are about 20-30 minutes into the tourney and players have invested time if not money into it, and this kind of DONK chase is not as common. Unfortunately, this is one of those cases, and he catches. I find when you get to the top 3% the game actually gets good because you're now 3+ hours into the tourney and don't want to be on the wrong side of the bubble. Now all the stuff that makes poker interesting comes into play - player profiling, playing your position, deciding whether to even play a hand because a player to act after you, just lost 90% of his stack in the previous hand and may just shove the remainder of his chips, is the table chip leader a bully and what is the range of cards he is raising with ? - all the nuace and decisions that make poker interesting.

You can't play freerolls like normal poker. The amount of crappy players is staggering. I see people win all the time with cards I wouldn't even call from the SB. That's why I would rather be in a tank full of sharks instead of a room full of donks.
