| NO! The re-buy and add on are $0.50 for a starting stack worth of chips, are they not? People who do that are paying $1.10 for the same tournament you are paying ten cents for. If you double up twice, you have as many as they do and you have the same chance at the prize pool. Even if you have a quarter the chance to reach that point, your EV is over two and a half times theirs. Last edited by pigpen02 : 1st October 2007 at 4:03 AM. |

Maybe you never played a re-buy before but unless you have a few re-buys there is a good chance you are in over your head. It is literally all-in donkey central for the first hour. And that's at $5+ rebuys........(people going all in with 24 os and stuff) |

| It is a definite disadvantage to play a rebuy without funds available, but it`s not insurmountable. From my own notes, I see that I have twice this year won a rebuy outright without rebuying (although I did take the addon in both cases). I have also had a 3rd place where I took neither a rebuy nor an addon. Those are the exceptions, though, and arose because that was the way the game developed. When I start a rebuy, I am always prepared to spend 3-5 buyins according to need, and I play $3, $5 or $10 rebuys, so the investment is fairly large. Having said all that, if Pigpen is right about the structure, his point about EV is well made, and (as you`ll gather from my experience) it is not always necessary to spend more. |

| re: In over my head? poker Starting chips 1000. Rebuys, $0.50/1000. One add-on, $0.50/1500. If you only have a dime, where better to try for $225? Even more if enough donkeys buy chips for five times what you paid. Would you enter a $5 rebuy with only $5 if rebuys were $25 and the prize pool was at least $50,000?
