Opinion on Pokerstars avatar picture Just wondering if the picture you put on your pokerstars icon would affect the way others play? I'm sure psychologically, the picture you choose could have an impact on how they play or view you as a player. Not saying it will work with anyone or even most people, but perhaps some that are prone to tilt or something else. Some examples could be: a baby (I know everyone hates that) something that would cause emotional distress after you take their chips a girl or cute girl (since I believe demographically most players are men) anything that would make players believe you are worse than you are just leave it blank? etc.... any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks

I'm not sure about the pic you have as an avatar, but sometimes I have to wonder about user ID's having an effect about how people play you at the tables, for instance my user id on pokerstars is ragman24, and you probably already know the definition of rags in the game of poker are bad or poor cards. The reason I came up with this user name actually has nothing to do with poker, but it's probably what other players think when they see me at the tables, I let them think what they want and usually by the end of the tournament or cash game session they find out otherwise. In most cases though, I think people will play you however they want regardless of your pic.

I don't have a problem playing with people with baby avatars or animal avatars. I do think I am affected in my decisions if the pic is a real looking senior citizen or mentally challenged person. I was working on that, however I don't play at pokerstars all that much anymore.

I've seen picture of cards: AA or KK or a royal. While I know it's not what they have, it works like my name there (AADooper) to cause a bit of subliminal worry. If they look at "me" they see that AA and, unless they know me, worry that I play super tight. My PS av is a kitten. I just like looking at my feisty cat. So I did not carry through my theme. I have an av pic of a big-eyed lemur at AP - a lot of people tell me they hate it. I don't play there much any more, but I assume it remains disturbing. I think the lemur is cute. Sometimes a person has a disturbing pic that I need to hide. But that's rare. If a person has a pic of a beautiful girl, it might be them or it might be their dream girlfriend. If it's a baby, it's usually their kid or grandkid, and I think that's sweet. For the most part, av pics do not make me think anything about the player.

There is a lot of guys that put up pretty women as images, I think its silly if they are doing it because they think they will gain an advantage because you think they are a woman. But funny thing is, there have been instances where I lost a few hands to someone and the image gets to me, so I just use the block image option.

Lately, I've been trying to make a point of changing my avatar every few days. Just to keep people from remembering something about me specifically. Now if the use a HUD, then that won't work but I'll take any and all advantages I can get. |

My avatar on PS seems to get a lot of attention. It's the same as my pic here and pretty much on a daily basis I get one of the same questions: "Are you gay?" "Are you 12"/"old enough to play?" "Are you Justin Bieber?" "Get a haircut" It's quite tedious and I take it as a laugh, but I think people seeing what looks like a kid playing at a table, they don't give me much respect. Til they've been playing at the table a while, that is.

the pics don,t mean anything to me. other than something to remember the player by. thats why i don't have one. it helps to blend in better, and not be noticed as much. there is one pic that does bug me. its the pic of people with 2 sets of eyes. that shit is hard to play with. |

I think the best/funniest/potentially most confusing one I've seen is a player I play against occassionally whose picture is actually the "Seat Open" typing that Stars normally uses to indicate that no one is currently sitting at that seat. What exactly is he trying to say about his game...?

I have a Tag Heuer logo. Same avatar I had when I setup in 2004. I had just bought a Tag Heuer watch. Back then Stars only let you change avatars twice in the lifetime of the account so you had to pick wisely. I'd like to change mine but have no idea what I would change it to.
