online -vs- home games i play alot of online poker maybe 3 tourneys a day. once a week i play in a home game that usualy has 10 to 15 players .we play $20 buy in tourneys paying the top 2. I have found that i play much better in person rather then online. ive won more in the last month at the home game then i have in the last year online. however i do stupid things online like play ring games when i am 100% better at tourneys. what happens is that i get borred and sit at a $1-$2 holdem table and will lose the money i have earned in the tourneys and sit and goes. i guess what im asking is do any of you have the same problem as i do. or is it just me not playing in the tourney only that is my down fall. i played last night and finished 1st at the home game and took home $130. we did play 2 tourneys and 1st one i was bubbled out and won the 2nd. so what do you all think

You need to find something else to do during the non played hands, and in between tournaments. Your computer has solitaire, hearts, and other games. Check out other poker sites for up comming games you may want to get into, or do I like I do, launch Cards Chat and pester rebuplicans with pro obama posts

re: online -vs- home games poker When you play in live games (especially home games with friends) the boredom doesn't factor in because well you're hanging out with friends and talkin it up. I personally don't notice time go by because I'm chattin it up with the guys while paying attention to the game. Online however you're all by yourself and boredom is bound to happen. Cowboy's right, finding something to surf or watch during those times is a great idea. Another thing about online games is that (depending on the price of the game) the players tend to take it more seriously, therefor they play better poker than in a home game.

let me add in something here too the game i play on mondays is a game that is open to most and the people there are only friends because i have played poker with them at this house. so it is not like they live naxt door or are good friends that i know away from there. the players change amost every week. there is only a few that i have played more then once with.i dont find myself doing alot of talking while sitting at the table. rather i see myself really watching the hands played and the bets. just like on online poker you play the players betting style for there tells and i use that in the home game and find that it work better there than online (wierd isnt it).

Home games the best I have played online and home as well. Home games are real. No computer program, real poker with real cards. Every poker site online is ran by a computer program. The computer generates the cards at random. Not to mention some sites may be shady, and you can bank on it that some are. I'd take a home game any day.

Not sure about you but the home games I play in are veryloose, especially with friends. It's seems easier to call your friend with subpar holdings in hopes of snapping him off. Once played in a 5/10 home game that was blind capped before the deal one hand and this lady at the table (tightest player) calls the $20 and everyone knew they were beat, of course she had AA and it held up.

I think that because you remain, for the most part, annonymous online, You may tend to "donk" a few hands here and there. Something you probably wouldn't do with your friends looking you in the face. I find this to be true of me anyway.
