Online poker is rigged Q: How to you respond to those who say that online poker is rigged? They swear it's rigged because a lesser hand always seems to knock them out late in a tournament. "the computer decided it was time to know me out" "the computer made the A2 flop a set of 2's." This drives me crazy. I am one who believes that the high quality random number generators are in fact random. I've seen sick suckouts and 1 outers on the river in plenty of live games, so it's not an online anomaly. What is the best logically based argument to shut these paranoid naysayers down?

Logic does no good in this case because they are not looking for a rational discussion they are looking for someone to tell them that it isn't their fault they suck donkey nuts. Just ignore them and move on. Last edited by dakota-xx : 18th October 2008 at 3:25 PM. Reason: too many rationals lol

I had fun messing with a guy bitching at a 45 person SnG. He got sucked out and started complaining that Full Tilt always lets the worst hand win. I asked him if FT was rigged, why was he playing. He responded that he didn't believe that it was rigged, but the cards weren't random. I told him if the cards weren't random that means it's rigged. He threw another fit saying that wasn't what he meant, but FT always pays out the worst hand. I asked him if he had ever saw a flush lose to a straight and he told me no. I told him that if they start paying out hands like that I'll believe it's rigged. After a few choice words that showed how intelligent he was - I believe it was along the lines of "Shut the F*** up" - he was quiet until he was knocked out. When people start complaining about percentages or odds and how they couldn't possibly have lost (90% favorite, 9 to 1, whatever they want to call it), I feel obliged to tell them that 90% means that your hand will win 90% of the time, his will win 10% over the long term - millions of hands. The simple fact is this: unless you have the nuts, it ain't over 'til the river. If you've got AA, the flop comes garbage rainbow, turn is junk, river is a 2, you're still going to lose to pocket 2s. With the pocket aces vs. the 2s, you're 86-14 pre-flop, after a garbage rainbow flop, you're 91-8, after a turn that doesn't help, you're 95-5, after the 2 comes on the river, you're 0-100. Too many people can't get a grasp on the math behind poker (and many like me decide to throw it out the window on occasion ). Just because your 72o hit a FH on the flop, doesn't mean it's a good idea to be calling anyone (like the pocket As - 88-10 preflop). You hit 772 on the river and all of the sudden it becomes likely that it's one of those 10%.

There were a couple of bozos at one of my tables last night having a very serious (and grammatically incorrect ) discussion about how the big stacks win against the short stacks 90% of the time so that they will go register for another tournament. It was agonizing to read their thoughts, but I and the rest of the table just kept silent...I wonder if they were paying attention when I (table chip leader at the time), lost on the river to a 2-outter (who happened to be the short stack)? Wait? What's that you say? It's only rigged against me? Damn. Oh well, guess I'll keep playing.

I have been playing online poker for many years now and I can honestly say me and other players have noticed a big change in how the cards are falling. I cant tell you how many times I have lost to quads with trip aces or other high trip hands. Hell in one game I seen quads 4 times, now does anyone here think that is realistic?? I have went from 8hr days of playing online poker to playing all live for the most part because of what I have been seeing recently. I play online for fun now only mainly freerolls. The last heads up game was what really did it for me when I was playing a 20 dollar heads up against aggressive player who raised and called my every bet. Finally I get the bullets I waste no time and push all in. He instacalls with pkt 2s. Flop comes 22k 4th is Ace 5th is a rag card. Common sense says you dont risk your whole stack when we are even in chips with pkt 2s. Call it poor play call it lucky call it what you will, that is a flat out stupid. To many bingo players online it seems these days, I will keep my real money flowing on live games. Best of luck all who play online as I have made good money over the years. My run was good for sometime online and I wish everyone else the same. Best of luck on the felts!!!

Aside from your first sentence " have noticed a big change in how the cards are falling", you make some good points. We have all lost to bad calls. I just lost to runr-runr 8, 8 to have my JJ's cracked by quad 8's on FT. I have also hit a one outer on the river to win a 460.00 live SnG. Don't say you've given up online poker for money, just look around for a more solid site. Post a thread with your frustrations and ask others which site has the least donkey play and go to that site. You know you'll be back. Read to post of the CC member who won the the Bodog main event a few weeks back. Good players can still win lots of money online. See you online! '

I think most of the people truelly believe in this and in my opinion the absolut/ultimabet scandal got a lot of them into this. P.S. I had some really strange situations in rooms not well know and popular but it doesn`t mean it`s rigged.

re: Online poker is rigged How can people know if something is rigged if it is a gamble/random game. Luck is random. People only remember the bad beats in their games in the past... Maybe thats why people think they are luck-cursed or pokerroom-rigged. Pokerstars, fulltilt make tons of money already why would they scam us

Home Game Was once in a home game to where the person on my right put in a HUGE overbet preflop. I looked down at my cards and found AA, looked at him and just called. Everyone at the table could tell that I had a Huge hand and the remaining table folded. Once the flop hit, I could tell he hit his set, made a bet to put me all in, but I was in so deep already, I had to call. When the cards were shown, yes... he hit his set of 5's and I was a big underdog. On the turn, I hit the miracle Ace and was up set over set Aces vs. 5's. (I thought I was sure to win). The Case 5 came on the river... These bad beats dont only come online due to "faulty random number generators"... it happens all the time. Mogadown Full Tilt

Check the deck! Sounds like a clear cut case of home game conspiracy with some of your ex-friends! Great story and one helluva bad beat. (that would take two shots to overcome). Sh*t happens. If you are a small stack late in a tourney, you may sit there for more than one revolution looking for a great starting hand, while the big stack is playing every hand. When you get your hand you move in and dbl up. try to get a 70/30 domination and you're good. But you could lose the 70/30 three times in a row, and you would have every right to be PO'd. Get mad and get on w/ your game. BLUF, if you think it's rigged, then it could never be YOUR fault. Whatever!

I opened this because the forum that I post on the most (8,000 posts) has a player who says this all the time & I laugh, because I don't believe it. I don't believe that the randomizer is rigged, altho there are times that I feel I have been profiled; what else would account for "Poker Hell?" You know that place, you have AA & lose to 222, you have 999JJ & lose to JJJ99 (3 times the other night I had a full house, only to lose to a larger full house) To say that a computer program has you singled out, just shows that you don't have the confidence in your game & that you have to find an excuse for why you lose the best hand going in. People will play A2C always, whether they are new & don't know any better, or they are on tilt & win (happens way too often) or they are low stack & want to double up right when you have 3 Qs to their str8 on the river, it happens in real life as well. This is always a very controversial topic, LOL, one that I love, because it must explain why I lost my patience & called when there is a possible str8 flush on the board & I have a pair of Js. It has to be the randomizer that made me do it!!

Another home game bad beat Once again... Home game on Saturday... was getting short stacked... Blinds were 10k/20k... Woke up with AA and pushed in all my chips with 150K... was called with QJ suited. Q came on the turn AND the river. When these bad beats happen you have to take into consideration "where did I get all my money in"?? If I get my money in with the best hand and lose, I dont get upset. Its poker. It happens. (my home game wasnt rigged) Even if I considered playing with a marked deck, it still wouldnt have increased my odds. Mogadown FullTilt

Rick, Very astute observation. This further helps to prove our point that Online poker IS NOT rigged. Congrats on the cash. You kicked and scratched and out lasted 650 players. Hold your head high. That's .38 you didn't have at the beginning of the day.
