Online Poker-Induced Sleep Deprivation Online poker rooms need to find the best compromise to schedule the events at a time that satisfy the majority of their worldwide resident players, especially for the largest buy-in tournaments. I have been playing numerous tournaments that in some cases strech from early afternoon to the wee hours. But I am sure that some of you has gone way beyond. Have You ever been chained to your monitor playing poker that resulted in complete sleep deprivation at least once? How did you manage to stay awake? Any particular good tip to fight sleep? And in the end was the result memorable or disastrous?

Give insomnia a try, if I was able to post you mine I would do it free of charge, trust me, you dont want to stay awake longer than you need to, I sleep on average around 3-4 hours a night, and I find it hard sometimes to keep alert at work, I nod off for a sec or two while driving, (before anyone says anything about that last bit, dont worry I have recognised the problem and I can now tell when it is going to start and I stop, revive and then go on, and stop again if needed). Now about your question, make time for your games, decide what game it is that you want to play and if it looks like it is going to be a long game make time to sleep before the game, and use the breaks, get up out of your seat walk around make a cuppa, go to toilet, read posts and make posts at CC during slow play, it is boredom that will mainly put you to sleep.

Get yourself a baby. If you're able to multitask rock the baby / play poker you will be able to play at these without wife / gf interfering. I played several MTTs that lasted a lot longer than my usual bedtime (1am). I kept myself awake with posting at cc and asking for a rail. I learnt that I can last until 7:30 am but don't ask how effective I was at work that day.

Yeah. I live in the UK and the scheduling of MTTs on Stars is really crap from my perspective which is why I kind oif got fed up with them and only play sit n gos now. Theres just hardly any MTTs starting before 6pm and the highest proportion starting between 11pm and 2am.

Take a look at the Ongame or Ipoker networks. Neither allow American players and therefore both have schedules aimed mainly at Europeans. |
