online poker?? Id rather puke blood

I have now tried 3 online poker sites and have made a deposit in each one.
They all have several things in common.
The 4 site I have played are pokerstars, full tilt and Ultimate Bet.
I play pretty tight and have played many hours of live poker in poker rooms in and around the Miami area. I have played basically small stakes ring games 2-4 and 75 dollar SNG. I have always played tight and have always done well. I have had the ups and downs that we all get.
Online poker is much different because all you really have to do is see the flop, cross your fingers and hope for the best. If you wait for the top hands you may be waiting a long time and when you do get good starters the flop will be on the other side of the universe but hey you do win some. Usually it's when you have the big pair thats when everyone folds to you and when you have marginal hands someone always bets a big bet just enough to make you throw away a 10 Q and the like.
I also noticed that every time I made the first deposit to any of these places I did very well and even got the balance in a couple of the accounts up, and then the cards stop coming and when they do come someone is alwyas beating you in the most incredible ways with unbelivabe odds against them. And then the ballance goes to Zero. This has happenend at each site.
And no matter how much I try I can not find anyone to say they are ahead. Sure I play the small stakes but damn someone has to be winning.
The beats are incredible and sometimes so absolutley unbelivable that you are just left starring at the monitor.
Someone told me that I see those bad beats more because I see more hands online. So I figure if I stop now I will be better off because the more I play the worse its going to get
I am sure there are winners out there but it has not been me. I have played tonight at Fulltilt and feel that that site has the best tourny set up out of all of them but I went over 50 hands without a win tonight and only 6 top ten hands to even play. Now I know this is going to happen from time to time but what has happened this week at Full Tilt has been the worse run of cards I have ever seen and the week before that I was at Ultimatebet and had the worse run of cards I have ever seen and before that I was at pokerstars and ran into the same dumb luck.
If you do not get cards you can not win.
I have never had anything like this happen in a live enviroment .
I have played hold em for about 6 years and played 7 card stud for much longer. Thje 7 cards is a better game for the money management but once you get into hold em its hard not to play.
I just feel that online is a bit of a sham and you fust have to be the one in the seat that the RNG has picked to do any good .I have tried playing several different ways and all with the same results. I know I play better then what I have seen online and will do my best to discourage people from playing online.

is there online tiddly winks??

Hiya Chester,

You sound just like me when I lost my first two deposits at Fulltilt and came looking for a forum to see if anybody else thought online was rigged.

Stick around, keep reading, learn some things, find out how winning online is different to winning live and you will see your bankroll slowly grow. Bout 3 months ago I deposited on Partypoker and in between playing, have spent my time here reading strategies, hand analysis etc. and now have a tidy sum in that account.

Good luck!!

yes usually sites do have stuff in common

yes we get it your a nit.

im assuming by seeing the flop you are just calling then calling then calling.

Usually it's when you have the big pair thats when everyone folds to you and when you have marginal hands someone always bets a big bet just enough to make you throw away a 10 Q and the like.

well then you should be breaking even right?

I also noticed that every time I made the first deposit to any of these places I did very well and even got the balance in a couple of the accounts up, and then the cards stop coming and when they do come someone is alwyas beating you in the most incredible ways with unbelivabe odds against them. And then the ballance goes to Zero. This has happenend at each site.

and here is why, when you 1st deposit you are actually thinking and playing well. Then you take one beat and your brain turns off and you play stupid to try to get back the little money you lost in that one pot and bam there goes your deposit.

And no matter how much I try I can not find anyone to say they are ahead.

there are a lot of people that are up search the forum.

Sure I play the small stakes but damn someone has to be winning.
The beats are incredible and sometimes so absolutley unbelivable that you are just left starring at the monitor.

never stare at the monitor too long, monitors are rigged.

Someone told me that I see those bad beats more because I see more hands online. So I figure if I stop now I will be better off because the more I play the worse its going to get

if you close your eyes every other hand then you will play as much as you would live. Problem solved.

I am sure there are winners out there but it has not been me. I have played tonight at Fulltilt and feel that that site has the best tourny set up out of all of them but I went over 50 hands without a win tonight and only 6 top ten hands to even play.

you honestly think FT has better tournies and structure the stars?

Now I know this is going to happen from time to time but what has happened this week at Full Tilt has been the worse run of cards I have ever seen and the week before that I was at Ultimatebet and had the worse run of cards I have ever seen and before that I was at pokerstars and ran into the same dumb luck.

normal ups and downs.

If you do not get cards you can not win.

duh

I have never had anything like this happen in a live enviroment .

you dont play much live then.

I have played hold em for about 6 years and played 7 card stud for much longer.

maybe you have, but if this is true you are not tracking live play to well.

Thje 7 cards is a better game for the money management but once you get into hold em its hard not to play.

why does the game have anything to do with money managment?

I just feel that online is a bit of a sham and you fust have to be the one in the seat that the RNG has picked to do any good .

ummmmmm ok.

I have tried playing several different ways and all with the same results. I know I play better then what I have seen online and will do my best to discourage people from playing online.

thanks you made a real strong case here.

I`m ahead.

Next week, my wife and I are going away for a holiday. We are renting a smart house overlooking the ocean. The whole trip is being paid for from my online poker winnings.

I`m not alone. There are at least a dozen CC regulars who make their income or a significant secondary income from online poker.

Three things:

1) Study. Read everything you can find about the game, online and in print.

2) Bankroll Management.

3) Game selection.

and the last two are the most important. I am not any kind of brilliant player. I am still learning and have a long way to go before I will be content with my game (if I ever am). But, by making sure that I am always well rolled for the stakes I am playing, I can`t ever be beaten and a bad session is just a temporary setback.

Also, I have no ego where poker is concerned and am very happy to stand up from any game that seems tough and find a softer one. By playing the guys who are where I was last year, rather than butting heads with folks who are where I hope to be next year, I try always to have the edge.

I tried eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and every single time, the sandwich would fall out of my hand and all I could do was hope it didn't fall face down, but no matter how hard I hoped, it always landed on the carpet and made a huge mess.
I'm never eating sandwiches again.

Excellent advice, thank you Mr. Towst.

That's sad about the sandwiches, vanquish... maybe you could just cut out the PB&J since other varieties haven't yet proven themselves to be problematic?

Top 10 hands out of 169 possible starting hands = around 6%
6 top ten hands out of 50 = 12%

Worst run of cards you have ever seen, huh?

I took my husband on a trip with my winnings - we were out of cash by the time I got my car out of the garage.

the point is , something is wrong with your game ,you may not be new to the game ,but we hear the same stories and complaints from newbies everyday, like some said there are millions of sucessful players and many are right here.your post sounds silly to them because they know better, and they were just trying to show you that in their own smartass way. it's obvious you are depressed and that is playing a part in your continued bad luck.take a break ,read some posts, read some books and come back to the game with a better attitude and I'm sure you will see it in a different light.good luck.

If you thought I was saying you were being sarcastic. You need to get yourself straight and read what I was saying again. I said "people" as in others remarks!
I was agreeing with you.

As another said," Flip that Sh** and I'll break it off."

A little helpful hint: Captalize the first letter of your sentences so it doesn't look like one big run on.
