Ones up then its Down It is a funny thing, when I play well in Ring games my tourn game goes down and when I'm killing the the tourney's my ring game s'cks. I don't know if its aggresivenes, lack of focus or what but it sure seems to occur on a regular basis and makes it hard to stack them up on a regular basis. Question is how do I get to be Killer on both consistently?

you should decide whether you're a cash player first, or a tourny player first. what's your best game? which ever you see the best results, focus more on improving your game in that one and use the other just to change it up sometimes. hard to focus on 2 completely diff. things at once and play consistent imo

Cash and tourneys are two completely different animals. I'm a sorry excuse for a cash game player but love playing touneys. Cash is much more analytical and mathematical and is about the best decisions over a very long time e.g forever. Tourneys are more about the short term, making more 'moves' and worrying less about odds and more about survival. It is very difficult to switch between and even the greatest are usually better at one or the other. Phil Helmuth gives his money away when it comes to cash.

re: Ones up then its Down poker It's Hard to be a Killer at both. There aren't that many players that can transition from one style to the other and consistently Win at both. I would suggest asking yourself why you play: Thrills or Profit. Then pick one that best fits and become the best you can and don't look back. If you want to perfect both then you will have to work twice as hard as everyone else to just break even with them. Good Luck

ive heard its easier for a winning cash player to transistion into a winning tourny player than the other way ...so kill the cash game first ...the variance is higher in tourny play too ...so its harder to win consistantly. so by having a steady win rate in cash you can weather the ups and downs of tourny play better.
