| One of a Kind and Championship NL/PL I am currently reading One of a Kind, the excellent book by Nolan Dalla on Stu Ungar and had a sense of Deja Vu, at this hand. Stu Ungar and Mansour Matloubi were playing a bit of a heads-up grudge match for $50k apiece (read the book to find out why). After an early chip deficit, Stuey had built back up to a slight chip lead when this hand came up: Stu had the chip lead 60k to 40k Stu opens for 1600 and MM calls from the BB with 45o The flop is 337. Mansour calls Stu's 6k bet. K on the turn - check, check Q on the river - Mansour pushes in the the rest of his stack and Stuey says "you have 45 or 56, and calls him with T-high. This story sounded awefully familiar to me, so I picked up Championship NL/PL that has a foreward by Mansour. TJ and Mansour are heads-up at the end of the Diamond Jim Brady tournament. 1st get $250k and 2nd get $160k. TJ has and Mansour has ![]() The flop brings two hearts and two overcards. I guess no one bet the the flop The turn brings a 7 and there is some unspefied action. The river is anothre overcard and Mansour moves all in, TJ instantly calls Mansour who claimed to have never rand a bluff at the final table. I thought it was funny that Mansour writes that "only TJ could have made that call" or something to that affect. Maybe not the only one Mansour. Another funny thing is that the event were only a year apart. |
