Which one do you like more? Online or Real face to face poker.. I played online for 2-3 months and i hated it. It was boring to me because its usually starring at a computer screen and click click click with the mouse. Most people dont even use the chat online and the only thing you can watch is the way people bet and play their hands which is not too much fun because there are many people that play almost any hand. We play home games every Saturday night and its a lot of fun. I enjoy talking to people and seeing peoples reactions after a big win or big loss. I enjoy looking for tells and talking trash. I even enjoy playing with the chips and holding cards. It actually makes me feel like i am playing poker, playing online makes me feel like i am playing some video game. I am also much better when i play live because i actually care, i try very had and dont get bored after 1-2 hrs of playing. I have never been to a casino because it is illegal to gamble in my state so i have no experience with casions. I would love to hear you experiences on casions because i plan on going to one that is 2.5 hrs away pretty soon. Which one do you perfer and why?

Ive never really cashed big online. Just too many donks out there and bad beats guaranteed. But i live in oklahoma where there is tons of casinos. I play live cash games and tournys all the time and do great. Its basically what i do as a part time job. I can read people alot better and the beats just arent as bad live.

Definitely playing live, face to face poker. It gives you so many more options to base your play on. You can pick up tells, easier to gauge betting patters, and I just love the feel of the chips in my hands. Online is good to just see lots of hands. I try to use it more for experience than actual skill.

Online gets my vote. Simply because I'm lazy, and online is so convenient - easy to get a game any time I'm in the mood. Play just as long as I want. Move tables if I'm feeling outplayed. Face to face takes a comparatively long time to organise. Location? Finding right number of players. Agreeing betting levels and rules. If it's a social occasion your after, then face to face is best. Otherwise, Online has most advantages IMO.

I think they both have advantages. I can sit here butt naked and play if I feel like it. But there is alot less information on your opponents to go on. I also like the idea of some donkey having to look me in the face before he chases a gut shot. You can shame someone into folding live. lol.

I would prefer to play live more often than I have. The closest Casinos for are in AC or Florida, which either direction is a 10 hour drive. I agree that live you are more involved in the game, It may prpgress slowy at times but there is so much more atmoshpere to keep you awake.

I have never played in a live poker tour. I know a few people that have and they say not only is it more fun but the cards that fall online just doesn't happen like that in real. Maybe once or twice.Plus the people playing doesn't do the all in all the time.More cautious.I wanna go play at least once in a real event just to check it out.

Playing live is much more fun IMO. However, both have their advantages. Playing online is obviously much more convenient and you get to see many more hands by playing multiple tables at once if desired. I am fortunate that gambling is legal in South Dakota. There is a small casino about 40 minutes north of where I live that plays mainly limit and omaha but also offers tournaments on weekends. The touch of the chips and holding the cards do make a difference, although it sounds silly. The felt on the table, the dealers and the sound of the chips being splashed in the pot make it much better than online.

Here is the other differences. The FACT that players are LOOSE-AGGRESSIVE is what leads to the SITUATIONS where bad beats happen. Here's why: 1. Players bet their draws more or call large bets with draws or OK hands (i.e. bottom pair). 2. More players are involved in every pot. 3. The pots are bigger, since players are more aggressive. I play at commerce casino , morango , pechanga , and I am going to support my live poker friends their and say that they play alot more conservative than any online players. Im proud of the people I play poker with at the casino's. All I ever hear from myself when I play online especially freerolls is how retarded it is that I just got called by 7 people with a bet of 5 times the big blind Then they show k 3 , 9,2 ect... I still enjoy online . Because later on in the tourney after dodging those silly people My game shines because those all in players won't go all in and then they have to play poker hahaha.. You can immediatley tell which players got lucky to get that far. Funny stuff. So I hope I explained to you that Im not one sided philthy |

I do much better live than I do online. I have stopped playing alot of cash games online because of this. Im not sure if it's because I am just getting so unlucky online or if its something fishy going on. Either way I know live games work out better for me.

better at live play I have played poker for a long time... and yes I have gotten better over time, I would say that am at my best level right now... when I play face to face in a live game... I win 9 times out of 10... but online, it's another story... it's like suck out heaven for the donkeys I play with... even if am holding the best hand, the guy rivers me... it's just nuts.

I just started playing poker due to some live games by my house. I think they are way more fun as the feeling of accomplishment is higher when beating a person you can see. The problem is, if I'm really lucky I only get to play once a week. Being able to play at any time for any limit on a multitude of different tourneys is pretty awesome. God bless the internet. |

re: Which one do you like more? Online or Real face to face poker.. Face to face is way better, there is no comparison. You can look at people eyes and try to figure out what they're doing... and also the other way around, show that your hand is not that good. Live is so much better IMO

Live or Online I play live games on a weekly basis. Usually 9pl NL holdem with 5€ buy in a game. Since the players involved are almost equally strong (and experienced) almost everyone gets his/her share over the year. (we deduct 3€ of every rounds winnings and save them for our yearly trip together). I like that round very much, but I play poker almost every day online, too. I play holdem, razz and horse, sometimes even multitable. I like the many different games online, I wouldn't be able to play them live. I only play small stackes (I'm trying the Ferguson and got 28,49$ untill now) and every freeroll I can lay my hands on... .......and I need some posts to qualify here, too.

Both great. I have a hard time picking only one. Live poker is deeper and more fun overall. But there are no legal live games like I can find online here in Dallas. I can't walk into a poker room and sit down and play live poker with strangers. That element of online is cool. Sometimes I am amazed at how little people recognize that these are really two different games. There are different overall playstyles, strategies and even things that just cant be done in one place or another. Can't muti table in a live game. Can't look your opponent in the eye and reach for your chips online. One thing I do online that I don't do live is channel Tony G. There are times I will try fairly hard to work another player into a lather via the chatbox in the hopes he will tilt away all his chips. It frequently works. (Well i am not quite as horrible or self aggrandizing as Tony G. but who on Earth is?) This is something I would pretty much NEVER do live. Most likely simply because I don't want to have my ass kicked.

There is just as many bad beats IRL as in online. We play every Saturday $20 tournament, there is usually 15-20 people. I have won 2 out of 3 tournaments (last night i won $250) Here are some bad crazy beats that i have seen in last 3 tournaments... First one BORD is KQ7 different suits GUY 1 bets high with KJ GUY 2 goes all in w KQ GUY 1 wins after J drops on turn and J drops on river. Second one (hurt the most because i would have won this tournament if it wasnt for this suckout) Its 4 players left i am second in chip lead. Chip leader raising all the time pre flop. He raises i push all in AQ suited he calls with Q8 offsuit because he raised so much to steal my blinds that he was pretty much commited to calling my all in. He ends up beating me by having a streight. I figured i was about 70-80% favorite to win pre flop. Last night i won but i made bad decision. I was chip leader by a lot and raised big with A10 pre flop. Someone else goes all in and i call which cost me half of my stack to call all in. I had A10o She had AJsuite 10 came on the board and i won. Last edited by ScorpionMK : 2nd November 2008 at 8:19 PM. |

Online has endless action, any time of the day or night, at whatever stakes you like. Live is more fun, more social and often the players are much worse. Both have downsides, of course. Online = RSI from endless mouse clicking. Live = RSI from endless chip shuffling. No clear winner or loser there I call it a draw and like both.

Live is fun I suppose, as long as you are not card dead, then it can get rather monotonous folding over and over and over. Sometimes ill end up limping crappy hands in hopes of getting lucky. Online you can be very, very patient as you are playing 6-9 tables++ at once and you will pick up playable hands consistantly. And LOL at "omgzz online has teh donks and bad beets!!1" stfu, either A) You suck at online poker or B) (?). Live is by far, the worst compiliation of terrible players ive ever seen in my life, plus the beats are just as crushing as online. So I sit down at 1/2 yesterday at C.Rama, 10 noobs at my table, first hand I play one guy has JJ and a short stacker has AA. They get it AIPF. Board comes out AJ4, turn is a 9, river is a J. Omfggg in some places that would be a BBJ right? Aces full beat by quad J..... pretty sick.

I used to play a lot in home games, but none of my friends or family will play with me any more. They say I spoil the game on account of I`m a damn shark and study the odds and such. There are several casinos within 20 miles of my home, but I very rarely bother. The attraction of a live game for me was always the social interaction, and you don`t get much of that while playing a bunch of random drunk strangers. Playing online, I can play any game I want, any time I want, from the comfort of my own armchair. Not much cause to ever put my shoes on imo.
