OMGClayAiken the cheater, or Gus Hansen a sore loser ? Hansen Goes off on OMGClayAiken, Urindanger Gus Hansen lost several hundred thousand dollars on Full Tilt last night. He then proceeded to insinuate that Phil "OMGClayAiken" Galfond and Di "Urindanger" Dang were cheating. It was a somewhat unusual situation last night as there was a full ring at Hansen's Blender, which is a $500/$1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha table. The combatants included noted players like Erik Seidel, Phil Ivey, Hansen, Tom "durrrr" Dwan, Galfond and Dang. The hand that started the controversy began with Hansen betting $3,500 preflop with J 9 8 7. Dang called with Q Q 8 8, but Galfond reraised to $18,000 with A A K 7. Hansen called but Urindanger shoved for $48,144. OMGClayAiken reshoved for $167,432, and Hansen called for the last of his $80,985 stack. The board came K 7 4 5 2 and OMGClayAiken scooped the pot. The players exchanged the following texts after the hand: Gus Hansen: too suspicious for me Gus Hansen: nice play guys Gus Hansen: and somehow they both were quiet Phil Ivey: definitely collusion lol Urindanger: you're an idiot Gus Hansen: If you think the QQ88 is a good play there you wouldnt have any money Gus Hansen: thats why it is strange Gus Hansen: but hey whatever I just have to quit Phil Ivey: nooo Phil Ivey: i will transfer u the 85k u jus lost Phil Ivey: call it a gift It wasn't clear whether Hansen was just extremely tilted by the hand, or was actually accusing OMGClayAiken and Urindanger of collusion. Brian Hastings and Tom Dwan have already come out in defense of Dang and Galfond, while Hansen had yet to confirm any subtext to his comments. Dwan also defended Dang's play, saying the shove could easily be right.

There's a thread on 2+2 about this and someone posted dang's response. I'll see if I can find it and post it, it was pretty compelling logic. Not to say for sure they're not colluding (and although they've denied it there's speculation that they are sharing bankrolls, which could possibly bring about unintentional collusion) but this hand surely isn't proof.

Wow, how did I miss that! I was watching last night but probably happened after I left (I always miss the action) Sounds like Gus & Phil both suspect collusion? Phil is so sweet tho, to offer Gus the money he lost...but he has always seemed very polite when I watch. Just seems Gus is losing a lot lately...tilt maybe?

| re: OMGClayAiken the cheater, or Gus Hansen a sore loser ? poker Crazy, I guess anyone can get tilted when losing twice most people's yearly income in a hand. Pretty serious stuff tho, accusing people of collusion, even when you're running like this: ![]() I really like Gus, and it makes me sad that this is going down. | It's hard for me to take a side on this, since I don't know Phil or Dang, and I've had limited interaction with Gus (played at the same table at Foxwoods for maybe 3 hours, and I've spoken to him a handful of other times). I don't think the hand is fishy taken by itself, but it's enough to keep an eye on future hands. And who knows if Gus had another hand or two in mind as well. I've been in many a game where I felt players may be colluding (mostly live, but a couple times online), and I said exactly what Gus said 'fishy or suspicious'. Not because I thought the players were definitely colluding, but more as a warning that their play is being put on notice. I never put anything past anyone I don't know extremely well: Who would have thought Russ Hamilton would be involved in UB scandal: How many people would have pegged Clemens/A-Rod/Palmiero/et. al. as steroid users. How about Madoff stealing billions? When millions of dollars are on the line people are capable of some shady shit. I'm not implying that it's likely they were colluding, but to call it an impossibility is quite a stretch. As to the reasoning on the hand.... They're both good enough to know not to do this with an obvious hand. |

re: OMGClayAiken the cheater, or Gus Hansen a sore loser ? poker I think Gus is just playing bad... he called with a straight draw hand... and the didn't hit his board... the odds of him hitting that board are around 36%.... after a raise and and a shove... I would imagine that Gus would figure that his hand was beat. Gus is just Tilting, and wanted to take it out on the other players... it was nice of Phil Ivey to send him the 85K lol.... he should send it to me, am sure I would make it last longer than Gus... who would blow it in a single hand...

I've never been a big Hansen fan so this doesn't break my heart at all. Looking at the hands he had no business being in it after the first raise. He must've been playing his "favorite cards" because his str8 draw j987 isn't a good str8 draw in omaha since you are holding up to two of the cards you need to make your str8. Sure they're fun to play but if 6 10 comes you need a 9 8 or 7 to come and you're holding one of the 4 in the deck of each of them. same thing if 10q comes, you're holding the 8 you're going to need to make that str8. Basically, you are holding your own outs. Hansen is clearly tilting and is making the donk mistake of blaming others when he gets busted. Not sure if that logic makes sense to anyone but me but it seems pretty basic.
