| This is a discussion on official chip values? within the online poker forums, in the General Poker section; are chip values set (white is $1, blue is $5, etc) in general or do different tournaments/casinos have different values for their chips?... |

Some casinos decide they're special and make exceptions. The $500 chip they use on High Stakes Poker (South Point Casino in Vegas) is red and white for example. My local casino uses the standard colours up to $500, but then uses blue for $1000 and orange for $5000 and white plaques for $25,000 (not that I know from personal experience ) Higher denomination tournament chips can be all kinds of colours too. The WSOP changes their colourings almost every year and if you watch episodes of the WPT they're rarely the same from episode to episode. This year the WSOP changed them after the orange-pink-peach "WTF is this chip?!?" problem in 2007. |
