mmmmm Oktoberfest, just had a glass the other day, delicious. And pokerwise, I'm psyched for October, gonna try to get 40k hands in at 100NL.

I'm gonna try to get in 25k hands, which, at this moment, seems unrealistic.

Actually, screw that. I'm going to put in a ton of hands, and win a ton of money, and get a bazillion dollars in rakeback.
Everyone who wants to grind, let's play a ton of hands this month, because, damn it, we're +EV!

My actual goal is going to be something like 50k hands! (iPoker full ring being 55 hands/hr sucks?)

ipoker tilts the hell out of me...not to mention that you get what like 3 seconds to make a decision before you time out in the middle of a hand and fold. And, at least for me when i tried playing there a month or so ago, the cascaded tables don't pop up when you have to make a play so i was literally timing out on every table constantly.

How/where/how much rakeback do you get at ipoker?

Yeah, I generally tile 12-16 tables (16 with some overlap), so that's not really an issue. The 2 second delay before the river card in all-in situations makes me punch babies though.

I get 40% there, because I personally know someone that runs a site that is an affiliate of theirs.

I think my goal in terms of volume is to play more than ice and less than zach. Of course that's a huge margin.

I guess between 20k and 30k hands at 50nl for the month. Also would like to get at least silver in the Full Tilt Poker ironman (that's my usual) and in PokerStars VIP (always been bronze so far).

I decided I'm going to teach myself how to 24 table. I just did it at 10NL and it wasn't that hard, I played like a total nit but whatever . PT3 says my MT ratio was only 14 but I know I started with 24 tables because Stars wouldn't let me sit at any more, I guess some must have just emptied out and I didn't notice. I'm not really sure how to keep track of all of the tables to see if they empty out because there is never really a break in the action.

You know what I just realized my MT ratio was lower because I didn't close down all the tables at the same time so at the end I only had like 4 running. Anyway PT3 says I can play 970 hands an hour, so I'm going to grind out 25k hands at 10NL, then 25NL and hopefully keep moving up. I'll be crazily over rolled for the stakes as I move up but I don't care, I make too many stupid bluffs when I don't have a lot of tables going and this stops me from doing that. Wish me luck

Yeah,me and Zach have been talking about doing this for some time now. Looks like we've picked the same month to do it.

Min 100k hands for me this month, preferably 150k. Looking at playing 5k hands/day!

Well, I've decided to jump into ring games and taking them much more seriously. I'll even purchase HEM micro either today or tomorrow.

I'll be playing FR games, starting with 5nl. I actually have enough to play 25nl comfortably with 30+ buy-ins, but I dont want to just jump into that high of a buy-in. I can afford it, but I'm so used to small buy-in cames, I wonder how that will affect my overall game. I actually think I might play scared money.

While having 160+ buy-ins for 5nl seems a bit like overkill, I want to take things slow and safe and see if I am actually good enough to profit from 5nl before I move up. I'll be MTing (4-6 tables) at 5nl, which I have no problem doing. Im not sure how many hands I'll get in for the month because of school, a new job, and everything else-I think around 25K-50K is a decent and reachable goal. After the end of the month, I'll see and ask the opinions of others if I am actually good enough to move up in stakes. If not, then I'll just grind 5nl more. Its better to be safe, then sorry.

Sadly, I do not have rakeback for PokerStars. I think this would be a great help if I did have it...Anyway I can still get rake back?

So, in a nutshell for October:
-Buy HEM
-4-6 table 5nl
-Play at least 25K-50K+ hands
-Analyze and determine (with the approval of others) if I can beat FR games and can move up in stakes.
-I'll be happy if I can manage 3BB/100

My October Goals are

Play 300 6 max Sng's
Play at least 5k hands of 2-7 Triple Draw
Start to 6 table (am doing 5 at the moment)
and if I have time take another shot at NL 10 cash games (I suck hardcore at cash).

Philthy - Pokerstars does not have rakeback programs. When you hear people mention their rake there they are referring to what they can get with their FPP's/VPP's I believe. Somebody correct me if I am wrong.

HEM - I know you are playing at Pokerstars but I still find it interesting to note that Fulltilt told me that HEM is not permitted to be used at their site.

Ah, I see. From what I understood from rakeback sites is that I had to sign up before I started playing. Thanks for the input on the Stars VIP, I'm not one so I have nothing to worry about.

ETA: Maybe I am, I just looked at the site and I'm reppin' the bronze star to the max! Oh, I just read that I can move up VIP ranks by playing SNGs and MTTs as well. Thats pretty cool.

Hmmmm, just to be on the safe side, HEM does work with pokerstars right? I'm 100% positive it does.

What? It's not listed anywhere on their site and it's no different than PT3. I know they're cracking down on datamining but banning HEM or PT3 seems ridiculous. Do you have the email from FT?

Oh and this is how I started the 1st day of the month:

Wow, you already reached my month goal for hands before I started!!! I guess it doesn't help that I only play 1 table.

Philthy, I'm in a similar situation as you with the 5NL. Wanted to take it more seriously so I withdrew most of my tourney winnings. Now I am basically rolled for 5NL and will have to be a winner before I move up.

I will be taking stabs at doing 2 tables (when I break $200 BR) and will probably stick to 6-max. I'll be checking in with you to see how your progress is going...

I think I'm going to try to learn how to beat ring games. I've never had much luck with them, but I haven't given them much of a chance. I'm much better at small buy in tourneys and SnG's, but I'm really starting to get worn thin with them.
