Not how many times you win but how much.

There is a diffrence from how many times you win compared to how much you win. If you are tight that you are only seeing 10% of your hands but that 1 or 2 hands give you a big profit everytime, compared to someone who plays half thier hands who barely wins as much as you have.

So be patience with your hands. It isn't the Quantity of hands one needs to play to be profitable it is the Quality of the Better hands that brings in the profit.

I always check my stats and I see about 30% of my hands including the blinds. Yet I check my stats that I see I normally win about 50-60% of those hands which gives me a profit.

So people prefer a diffrent way of playing. To me I would rather win more with Quality then Quantity.

The statistic you want to worry about is your average BB (big bets) won per 100 hands. Funny thing is though, it doesn't matter how loose or tight you play - you can win either way, if you play well. I had a look into this, results in this thread. You can win more by playing a good loose game.

My opinion of why looseness wins just as much based apon observations.
#1 Is because a loose player doesn't respect the significance of a pre-flop raise. Yeah they may know it is a top ten pre flop hand but they will call with AX, KX and even QX, They don't care that they may miss the flop cause #2 a TAG player was never shown what to do after the flop in certain situations.

Loose players just don't care while tight players care.
So a tight agressive player loses with JJ's cause some loose player called a pre flop raise with say K,10 and the King hit the flop.. or they call with A,X suited and an ace hits the flop. A lose player will call with the ace even if he is up against a,k or a,q. Won't evaluate the flop cause he has top pair.

Loose players will play any 2 cards and sometimes make up all that limping with 1 strong lucky hand. Loose players are hoping to win more on luck then actually playing the cards and the player.

Loose players are gamblers pure and simple. They also call pre flop raises with small pocket pair.

This is a great way to make money when you hit your set, 1 time in 8. Just sit back and watch the tight player hang himself. I think the problem is that many tight players expect they will win the hand, just because they raised and probably had the best hand pre-flop. They don't consider the fact that their opponent may have hit something bigger than their high pair.

I defintely agree. Players who chase often or see nearly every flop rather than picking and choosing a more particular number of hands to play are much less likely to come out ahead in the long run. Tighter players may not have the big stack early in a tourney; they may even get knocked out early periodically. In the long run, they will come out better by focusing on playing a smaller number of hands, and maximizing the amount they win on those hands, rather than trying to win more pots no matter how big they are.

I am trying to get better at this- doing a better job of choosing my hands based on position, the other players' styles, etc.- and figuring out how to maximize the win by neither betting too much nor too little. When I get it right, tho, it sure does feel good!
