noob player with noob questions about rake Hello guys, quick question for you. Please excuse my ignorance here I've tried looking for the answer yet not managed to find it. I'v got 2 accounts on fulltilt and pokerstars and only recently learned about rake. Iv seen several websites that offer rakeback, however i just wonder because i now have an account if i can still claim rakeback or is this not possible? ps: Also just a question on the this rakeback, why do websites offer it back or manage to even get it back when i thought this was the way poker websites made their money, so giving a percentage back works in what way for it being beneficial for them? Thanks in advance guys.

Is that 2 accounts on FT and PS? or 2 accounts, 1 on FT and 1 on PS? If you have 2 accounts on each site, you need to clear that up first or rakeback wont even matter. If you did not sign up to Full Tilt through an affiliate, you can probably get it, it just might take some time. Good luck.

Chances are you'll be able to get rakeback. Just go apply for it at rakebackpros. I did and they responded in 2 days that they were checking to see if I was eligible, 2 days after that I was accepted. I'm not sure what the requirements are, I'm sure it has to do with how much you've played with real money/how much rake you've generated. At the time I signed up I'd payed only 60 dollars in rake to FTP over my career. Also with rakebackpros, its only 16% of your rake that you get back. I'm sure a solid 4-5+% goes to rakebackpros, and FTP keeps the rest. So by offering this to some people it will encourage others to play on FTP via word of mouth. Also at the super micros that I played the rake is so massive that FTP is still making buku bucks. Go sign up and see if you're eligible!

re: noob player with noob questions about rake poker Ehh? I think I read that it was 16% but I'm doubting my unreliable memory right now. That or you get better rakeback than me! Let me go check where I saw that figure.... ***Edit*** Yes it's 27, the lesson is don't ever believe anything I say unless I provide a source! Kidding..

OK, If you signed up at Full Tilt, through Full Tilt's web site and not an affiliate. You can get rakeback on full tilt. Email full tilt and kindly explain to them that if you knew what rake back was when you started, you would have singed up with a rake back account. If you are eligible they will refer you to rake back pros with further instructions. PokerStars doesn't offer rake back. As someone said above they do their rake back with points and VPP stuff. The Poker sites still make money, they aren't giving back all the rake that is paid. Affiliates generate business for poker sites. So the site doesn't have to pay as much for advertising. The Affiliate wouldn't do this for free. So the poker site overs them usually 30 to 35% of the rake the customer they referred generates. So Affiliates can make a nice chunk of change if the players they sign up do a lot of volume. To drum up more business, the affiliates figured out if we offer rake back to people that sign up through us. More people will sign up with us. People that are likely to do a lot of volume, so they will make more money in the long run. Long story short, it's just a marketing ploy that happens to benefit all the parties involved. Make sense now?
