No More Click2Pay

Emailed their support team last night because I couldn't open a new account - their site didn't recognize my IP as being from US was the message. In fact, they just turned US off. This is the email I got from them this morning:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Thank you for contacting the CLICK2PAY Service Team.

Due to the existing US legal situation the decision has been taken to not accept any new sign-ups from US players. Please respect our decision in this regard.

Kind regards

CLICK2PAY Service Team

So no more Click2Pay...at least for new accounts. Bummer.

I'm actually not so sure this is about them not accepting US players due to the legislation. It seems to me the situation with Click2Pay is that they just didn't plan for this amount of growth in such a short period of time, so they have temporarily stopped taking registrations until they can process all the ones they have pending already.

We'll have to see if they release an official statement though.

Hopefully. Although with so many e-wallets jumping ship, its probably just a matter of time.

Well, that's the email they sent me.

"Due to the existing US legal situation the decision has been taken to not accept any new sign-ups from US players. Please respect our decision in this regard."

To me, that's pretty official.

Get your checkbooks out?

Its a step backward, but no-one can stop you sending money abroad by every method.

After writing Ultimatebet's support team regarding withdrawing money from my account (I had deposited money using Neteller), here's the response I got back from them:

Citadel Commerce and Neteller are no longer offering payments to US based customers. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused, but unfortunately this was a decision made by Citadel and not UltimateBet.

This is beyond Ultimatebet’s control, but it is an issue that stems from new policies recently put in place by NETeller and Citadel. Customers based in the USA can no longer use NETeller or Citadel to make deposits or withdraw funds at poker sites using their services. This includes E*Check, Direct deposit, and My Citadel.

Should you wish, you may withdraw funds by requesting a check or a Click2pay withdrawal. The check can be requested from “My Account”, and is displayed as CHEXX in the menu. Click2pay users must have made a successful deposit from their Click2pay account in order for the system to recognize their account. We will have additional withdrawal methods for you to choose from within the next few days and we are very apologetic for the circumstances.

Unless you use Bank of America...they refuse to do any transactions to internet e-wallets.

yep I'm not talking about any e-wallets really. What I mean is dealing directly with foreign banks and foreign pokersites.

Personally (despite not coming from the US) I have an off-shore bankaccount (with not much cash in it I haycent to add), as well as UK bankaccounts. This is obviously one avenue.

Essentially my view is that any person in America wishing to play poker online wont really have a problem after this initial period of rationilsation.

If you are a 15 year old kid looking to buck-the-system, well essentially you are going to have to work much harder now to get around things, which obviously is a key motivation for the legislation.

Very true, it's going to be like the NAPSTER thing with the file downloads. They scared people and made a few arrests but then decided to find a way to work with the download companies to make it right. Same thing with poker....even if it goes back in time to the old IRC poker it'll still be here. If the worst possible scenerio would happen then maybe all the major sites would block the US but there will always be the small sites open to us illegaly.

Yeah, I had the same problem with Click2Pay. Its getting tough to deposit or withdraw funds to play online poker. I think that is why there are so many people in freeroll's and you notice less people at the cash tables.

The key motivation for the legislation was to keep good old USA funds from going elsewhere without Uncle IRS getting their piece of the pie.

The government could give a rat's ass if 15 year olds buy lottery tickets, play bingo or watch porn on the internet.

They sanction a boatload of gambling venues (with appropriate tax revenues) and would sanction internet gaming if they could figure out a way to tax it.

By the way, while I'm on a roll....I work hard every day and have sone so for many years. I get a paycheck every two weeks and a significant sum is removed by the federal, state and local governments (not to mention social security) Some of this money is distributed to folks who choose not to work for whatever reason, good or bad. As a condition of working and getting that paycheck I am required to pass a drug test.

I believe that whoever my money is distributed to should also have to pass a drug test before getting the check. Think that will happen????

Let's talk for a minute about social security. Social security is supposed to be money that the worker puts in the kitty to support himself during the golden years after working for a lifetime.

And then there is Social Security Disability. Don't get me wrong....there are plenty of people out there that are truly disabled and really need asistance from the powers to be in order to survive.

Unfortunately, like every other government program, this one is being grossly abused. I think half the people in my wife's hometown in rural Kentucky are drawing social security disability. In fact, my wife has a sister and two nephews (22 and 27) drawing a monthly check. What is their disability ??? Blind??, missing a limb ?? Nope.....apparently, too stupid to work! I swear, an able-bodied 27 year old man who has the wherewithall to complete a fairly complicated drug transaction on a regular basis but never worked a day in his life should not be dipping into my retirement fund every month!!

And the government has the time and effort to put into ruining the fun of tax paying, hard working, law abiding online poker players???

I used Click2Pay a couple hours ago to download winnings into my checking account (USA). It worked fine...at least I didn't receive any messages saying it didn't go through but did receive the immediate one saying it was complete. I'm not new to Click2Pay...have been with them for 6 months.
