| NFL Drops Opposition to Online Gambling Bill Way to go, NFL! Yesterday, Haley Hintze reported this in Poker News: NFL DROPS OPPOSITION TO ONLINE GAMBLING BILL Long-term chances for federal regulation of online gambling, including poker, received a boost recently when a former staunch opponent, the National Football League, dropped its opposition to legislation championed by US Rep. Barney Frank. The NFL changed course after an amendment was added to the proposed bill by two New York Representatives, Republican Peter King and Democrat Gregory Meeks. If passed, the amendment would specifically exclude online sports betting from being federally regulated and accepted. The NFL has maintained an official "zero tolerance" policy towards sports betting for decades. |
