Seriously rigged by whom? A poker room so stupid they rig their BB jackpot and award it to the same player just to arouse suspicion?

There are players that only ever play at those particular tables, and that's why they do it. This news will simply encourage more people to do the same thing. It's a bit like playing the national lottery, you know the odds are stacked against you, but the dream of that big win drives you on...

I think they are inferring that the issue for people to believe or not believe is whether or not this player cracked the RNG or has inside info on it. If this is what is believed, then U.B would have a huge security situation on their hands.

(Not saying I believe this or not, but...) What if this player knew an ex-programmer at U.B or its software vendor? What if this person with inside knowledge of U.B's RNG told the player how to beat it and had an agreement with him to split any winnings? ...Discuss.

So for this to work he has to know everyones cards AND what the board cards will be? Not even the Absolute Poker cheaters knew what was coming. Coincidence that will drive the rigged crowd chatter for a while. Nothing more.

Well he would not only have to have info on the RNG, but be able to manipulate in his favour as well. I mean there are very very very few circumstances that someone would fold quads (especially since you have to use both hole cards in those badbeat jackpots), so simply knowing what cards were coming wouldnt really help him in this case. He would have to actually be able to control what cards were dealt to each player.
That is also the reason that I really wonder if he did cheat, if he would do it in this way. If you could control what cards were dealt to each player, wouldnt you use it for big money tourneys or high stakes cash games?

Pff. What would you have to do to get the jackpot? Straight Flush crushed by a Royal? 4 of a kind killed by a Straight flush? eh. I don't see it as a likely cheat.

Possible sure, but not likely. If so, they should have waited until the jackpot went up higher until hitting it again imo, because if he/she hits it a 3rd time the littley acounty is going to be frozeny. Let's face it. Robbers are greedy. If he/she cheated the system, it'll surely happen again and they'll get accused/caught/banned before payout.

He would really have to be able to control who got what cards as well. No one is going to lay down quads, especially at the lower stakes (where he won), so just knowing wouldnt make much difference.

I hit the bad beat jackpot at the Commerce Casino twice in 3 days a few years ago. What was amusing is that a lot of the same players who were there when I got the bad beat the first time were there again for the second one.

It was 4 aces beaten by royals both times too.

I'm not surprised the dude wins the bad beat jackpot. According to Blff magazine, he's played 8 tournies in 2 years and his biggest win was $83.

You never know, this might work in Ultimatebet's favour?
As all the other players,at the table,of a winning Bad Beat Jackpot, get a smaller % of the total prize, split between them.
Ultimatebet might get a rush of new players, depositing $ into their site, just to sit on the same table as this lucky barsteward.

I was observing a hand at party poker today (not on a jackpot table though) where a with pocket 10-10 got a flop 6-10-10. Turn-river came a-a and he lost to pocket aces.

Would it not be positive EV to play for the bad beat jackpot, and not the pot in hand.

I dont have the skill lvl to do so, but i have been thinking to start playing the bad-beat tables, and everytime i have 8-8-8 or better on the flop simply just chek from there so ppl would stay in the pot. I might win a few bucks in the hand, but stand to win loads. Need some odds on the chance of actually reaching the bad-beat from trips though

Ya. Quads of K's or higher getting beat, with both hole cards being used by both players involved in the hand. Happens every day. Why, just last week I won 5 bad beat jackpots myself. Move along now, nothing to see here...

My buddy and I were playing the same table a cupla nights ago @ Hawaiian Gardens.

WE HIT THE JACKPOT. Me and my buddy were the ones to hit it. Ain't that cool?

I had A-10s and he was holding a cupla jacks. After the flop we needed runner aces to get it.....and they came. AAAA10 vs. AAAJJ

We split it evenly........ $10,000.00

So, this year I've copped three RF's and a bad beat jackpot. And it's only early may.

This is gonna be a very good year indeed.

It would have to be in this case. How could the guy control the cards to both - give him quads AND give the other guy a royal. TWICE!! lolz!!

I think Ultimatebet claims to use some sort of actual thermal device to truly randomize the way the deck is shuffeled and the cards are dealt, as opposed to psuedo RNG's on some sites. If this is true I think it would be genuinely impossible to predict the cards to come, but I'm not positive....
