| Newbie tips TV Poker hurts new players play I have noticed a lot of new poker players getting all stoked up ready to show the moves they witnessed after watching the final table action on tv.At the table table you hear I saw that on tv last night. They fail to notice this is inflection point play with some players with only 15 hands left before they are blinded out. So the move you see dont always work the way you see it onm your local tables. For instance 6 handed a player in 4th position with chips 5 times the big blind with go all in with xif there was no raises before him preflop. This is not a move you do at a full table or at a loose table. The Poker seen on tv is just is just highlight hands. Which is great for promoting poker but sucks for new players that see this and try to emulate with out any research. Well this is what this post is all about.I see so many new poker players try to emulate what they see on tv and just lose more then a 5th of their paycheck. Its great for a seasoned player but it just makes me feel bad when they come back every day and dont learn.I Propose we make a list of tips(mistakes we see)for the newbies. This could be entertaining. I will go first. This i see most often. Starting with $6 1-5 limit A newbie will get into a cheap flop for a dollar ( ![]() )with 7 other players. Flop comes He is first to act. Instead of going all in with a good but scared hand he checks next in line bets 2, 2 players fold, the other 3 call. He goes all in $5 but every one is getting great odds so they call. Turn River Player looses on river to ![]() . Slowplaying with a short stack and bottom two pair with a flush draw out there is a bad move. Go all in right away to get it down to heads up or 3 handed. |
