newbie random questions

Hi guys, looking to get back into poker and have some random questions about online play after reading through a bunch articles.

1) There's always a tip about table selection in online rooms, but how exactly do you determine a good table? what methods do you use to pick a table? both in the <1/0.5 and >2/1 range, for holdem limited rooms.

2) do any of you use softwares that auto analyze each hand for you? kind like card counting in blackjack. I read that almost everyone uses those softwares on the higher up tables. Well noone will probaby admit it...but what's the current situation with those softwares and bots that play poker for you in online rooms?

3) On pokerstars, there are $0.02/0.01 rooms. The people that play there, is it purely for newbies to practice? are there any other reason.

Can you play in those rooms and get your matching bounus or they require you to play in higher stake rooms?

thanks guys!

cant really tell how to determine a good or bad table cause the hands are just too monsterous, as far as software goes I used to use texas calculatem, its a good program that basically gives you the odds of winning and I like it cause it tells you what hand you have, and since online play goes so fast its a handy tool to have, but I dont use it anymore cause the darn thing will say you a 98% chance to win and I will still loose, over and over. makes one wonder.

If you use sharkscope (I think you will need to subscribe to them though) they do "fish-bowl" ratings for SNGs.

IE they will show tables where there are 3 or more "bad players" sat there.

Personally I dont use it, but it is worth considering if SNGs are your game.

Good Luck in finding some soft tables

I've never used the software things that were stated, and you really can't judge what a good table is unless you study it, I'd say. I seldom do RNGs to begin with and stick to tournaments. I have ventured over into the 0.02/0.01 pokerstars once in a while, and they are good to build up a small bankroll. Although I'd watch the table a little while before I go in and play, study up on the people that play and watch their tendencies. Might help, good luck.

well I use software to help me determine but without it you should see how many are going to pot, average table amounts and all the things the site lets you see on table.

I use pokertracker, pokeracehud, and the full tilt auto table opener. As for bots, dont know if anyone uses them but I would never do it because it takes away from the game I love.

some people play for enjoyment only and they dont need to play for alot of money in order to have fun.

Can you play in those rooms and get your matching bounus or they require you to play in higher stake rooms?

yes you can but it will take alot longer.

thanks guys!
Took me a little while to get to this but will post my answers in red.
