New Form of Hold em Poker

When I was at Foxwoods, I saw a few tables (a table like blackjack would be on) called "Texas Hold em Bonus." I decided to check this out as a spectuator. What a ripoff! You have to beat the dealer but not the other players. You post the ante ($10) then you bet on the flop ($20) but everyone can check if the want. Then, you bet on the turn ($20) and then on the river ($20). That's $70 per hand! I saw the dealer get trip 3's and Kings. If you win, you get a lot of chips. If you lose, you lose a lot of chips. There is no stragedy involved at all and you win on luck alone! I can win and bet less on a REAL poker table in one hour than at this table. The bonus thing they have if you put an additional $10 is you get paid odds if you get a certian starting hand. The payout that I could remember is this:

Pocket Aces 30 to 1
Pocket Kings, Queens, Jacks, 20 to 1
Ace-King 15 to 1
Pocket 10s and 9s 10 to 1
A, Q and A, J 5 to 1

Overall, I think this form of poker is a ripoff and you lose money quick. Stick to the REAL poker tables where stragedy comes into play and win more and possible lose less.

Whats the URL? I have seen a growth in the interest of what seems like a hybrid of poker and instant win games. Games like this are driven by the fact that most casinos offer something silly like a 97.5% payout on slots, yet make enough profit from them to run the entire casino, leaving all the real floor games to generate pure unadulterated profit. Online instant win games probably have an even higher profit margin.

So it does not suprise me that a hybrid game, combining a blackjack commmunity style game - rooted in the image of texas hold'em - probably designed for people who play video poker but want more has been launched.

Whithout having seen it, I don't know if I should pass judgement - but I think real poker players should take your advice. Maybe gamblers might like it... whats the URL?

nice signature

It's scary how much money some people have to burn. I don't doubt that Foxwoods will make a lot of money from this. Just out of interest, which pokersite makes the most money? Who are the top ten?

I can see where there is no strategy involved. Nobody is betting against each other, the dealer don't raise or even re-raise. You have no clue what 2 cards he may be holding. Just hope and pray your 2 cards are better then his.

Ah. This may be the game that David Sklansky invented. There is some strategy involved (as there is in Blackjack) but of course there is only one optimal strategy.

It's a "ripoff" in the same sense that Blackjack is a ripoff. The house would never take the worst of it when it comes to odds, of course. I read a post by Sklansky a few months back about it, but I'm not sure I'd be able to find it again now.

They have this game in AC. I have never personally played it, but I have watched friends of mine make alot of money very quickly on it. Some by playing the bonus, some who didn't (friend got AA but didn't play the bonus). If you get at the right table with the right people who like to pick their cards off the table, you can see whether some of your outs are gone which can help you make decisions in this game.

This is a casino game where you play against the dealer and must bet on every hand you play, drastically reducing the skill element and the house will always have the edge.
