Need some advice on my future savings.

Hi everybody, I have been thinking about this lately and I needed some better suggestions from you people. I am working in a joint venture company and going to retire soon. I have not made any particular plans yet but I have been advised by my friends to invest my earnings in a good investment company for a secure future. I am not very clear about the ways on going about this and I am seeking some help here. Please let me know the possibilities here!!!!!

I think you should loan your money to me

I have an LLC that invests in housing and it could go up any day now (actually this is true but not the point). Truth is, no one is really much of a sooth sayer. Most people will tell you to invest in a diverse group of vehicles - stocks, bonds and the like. I say, do what you love and the money will follow. You will only get rich by working at it. The more passive your investments become the more likely they are to fail.

Look to Daddy's laundry or Uncle Franks Pizza Place. There are successful people in your family who worked hard to obtain security. In America we have more opportunity than anywhere else.

Heck, maybe you could open up a website that caters to poker players and build that into your own poker site. (5-20% rake is not a bad racket).

In any case, good luck to you. The less you look for the easy answers the more likely you are to succeed.

set aside a small amount for poker....well, large enough you can afford.
Set aside a decent amount in bonds
a decent amount in mutual funds
and a decent amount in oil futures, cause that stuff is gonna keep on rising.

I'd probably go with index funds for the fastest growing stable economies in the world. If you're older, which seems likely since you're retiring, you likely want stable investments that won't fluctuate widely in value, so you can diversify your portfolio with index funds and protect against currency devaluation since it'll be in multiple currencies. Then I'd move to a cheaper country and live like a king (literally, I'd build a castle.) I don't know that this is the best strategy but it's the one I would use given my limited knowledge of investing. If you're rich enough you can pay someone to figure out what would be ideal for your situation, though, which could be better than following my advice considering I have limited knowledge of investing.
