My stats for feb - keen for your feedback

Hi all,

A while ago i posted a thread venting how bad i thought i was. After reading everyones feeback and private messages I thought i'll re-focus and not try to make millions over-night morely set small goals and have more patience.

Unfortunately haven't been able to purchase poker tracker yet but am keeping as many notes as i can until i do get it.

Just wanted to share my results with you and hear your feedback on my results. Please see below.

First of all congratulations on turning your game around, taking the advice on board, re-evaluating your game and continually learning will only improve you as a player.

Your stats are very impressive, but most definately unsustainable as your winrate works out at around 67ptbb/100 and your wining sessions % is also on the high side. So your definately on a heater at the moment. Make the most of it and don't let the dreaded downswing put you on tilt. Accept it for what it is. Cash games is all about the long run, having slightly more winning sessions as opposed to losing ones and at the end of the month, year or whatever then you end up in profit.

I'm no expert, but you seem to have the right attitude, which in my opinion (for what that is worth) is more important than the stats.

I would reiterate what jagst has said that you appear to be on something of a heater. I'm pretty pleased with 60% sessions won, and BB/100 hands of a little over 4 (playing 50c / £1 FL). It is inevitable that you will hit a rocky period, variance happens in poker just as night follows day. When it happens, don't let it change your game, and don't let it dishearten you.

Given your record so far, it's hard to be too critical, but seeing 352 flops from 963 hands (36%) is rather high. Obviously I can't comment on your style of play based on the figures that you have given, and LAG (loose / aggressive) can be a profitable play, but it's not the easiest way (for most) to be profitable, so I would suggest that you give some though to the hands that you are seeing the flop with.

I play tight / aggressive and my VP$IP is about 17%. Taking blinds into account, I probably see about 22% of flops. I'm not suggesting this is the only way to play (or even necessarily the best way) but for a relatively inexperienced player it's probably the least dangerous.

Good look with your future progress - and get Poker Tracker as soon as your financial situation permits, it WILL pay for itself very quickly.

Having the right attitude is paramount to winning at poker. It's easy to have the right attitude though when things are going well for you, which it seems they are at the moment. Try and mentally flatten out that rollercoaster of getting too up when things go well, and going on tilt when things go south. For me, mostly this 'skill' has been learned the hard way.

About your stats. It's rather difficult to say much other than it seems you are running hot.

1. Is this 6max? if so, then the % of flops seen seems ok.
2. You have won a lot of non showdown pots. This tells me you play aggressively which is usually a good thing.
3. The BB/100 is high, but the sample size is so small it means nothing about your general play.
4. At the super micro stakes, the play is bad, people don't fold, and raises don't get much respect. The play is weak and if you are aggressive (but still know how to fold) showing a profit in 18/22 sessions is not all that out of the ordinary.

5. Bite the bullet and get pokertracker and poker ace HUD. Today. Before I got those, people told me that they would pay for themselves in the long run. To be honest, for me they paid for themselves very quickly.

I've seen similar quotes to this a few times. Just to clarify, it's free whilst it's in beta. When the final (bug free and fully featured) version is released you will need to purchase a license. I'm not sure if you will be able to continue to use the beta version for free, but I would guess not. The cost (I'm guessing) will probably be $60 - $75.

Yes, the point that is being made I think is that with the usual free trial there is a limit on the number of hands you can play, but the beta is not limited in that way.

Yes, I assumed that's what you meant NWF. It's just that a few of the "it's free" comments implied that it would be free indefinitely / for ever. I'm not sure whether the beta version of the code will be usable (for free) once the final version is released or not (does anyone know / have an opinion on this?).

Anyhow, I thought it worth pointing out to those who have downloaded the 'free' beta version that they may need to part with some $'s to keep using it once the commercial version is released. Hopefully, by that time all will be so hooked on PT3 that they'll be happy to pay for it!
