My Online Poker Plan 2010 I have decided to try a new online strategy in terms of BRM. Instead of depositing $50 a month and playing low limit games and getting a bunch of bad beats (my opinion only) I have thought about deposting $50 a month and playing 1 $30-50 1 table S&G (probably 6 player) trying to make money that way. Yes I realise that bad beats will still happen but I believe they are less likely at bigger limits. I know this is probably a bad idea but hey nothing else has worked so far. Thoughts anyone?

Horrible idea in my opinion. Why? If you can't take bad beats, then you shouldn't be playing at the $30-$50 stakes. You will be playing way to nervous. Playing with scared money is not good for winning. After busting out, I doubt you will have the discipline to wait 1 month to reload. Sorry if I sound like a total dick. I'm not trying to be, I just want to be straight forward with you. I personally suggest griding at the $1 stakes. Good luck to you.

the problem with that is simple, the players are going to be better than you most likely, if you enter a 50 sng, the max with for 6 handed is 200-250 i guess? so that leaves you with like 4-5 buy ins.. over time, that is no where near enough, you may have some shortterm success but i highly doubt it. i suggest putting that 50 on one table cash game... thats how i used to play when i started( with no brm skills, and still have very few) buy into a 25/50 cent table with full buy in or alternatively buy into smaller cash tables with $10 on each table.. and one more thing, what happens if you deposit 50 in for your month, you lose the first game, then what? my guess is you will get another 50, so buying into smaller games will get you more action for your $$ more action = more learning more learning = better play better play = more $$ more $$ =big smiles

| You can't beat bad players at the micros, so you want to jump up to medium stake SnGs? Work your way up. Don't know what you have played in the past, but since the money doesn't seem to matter, instead of playing the 1 or 2 dollar SnGs you are "bankrolled" for maybe try out the $5s or $10s. Either way your are still going to find "donks", idiots, and maniacs up through most levels of play, some people just have more money to waste than others. | Yeah, GL with that, set up a blog or something man, keep us posted! Made me feel warm inside though when i read 'instead of depositing $50 a month' , you mean people actually deposit and obv then lose $50 per month playing micro stakes! How is that even possible?? |

its going to happen less because you dont have people calling 3 and 4 times the blinds with k4 and 93.....but trust me when it does happen its going to be a kick in the balls....i use to play high limit games until i almost lost my bankroll in 1 night.....trust me when beats happen at high stakes its like a kick to the nuts.....its a lot easier to handle them at low stakes....one thing that works for me is MTT an MT sit n goes

re: My Online Poker Plan 2010 You pretty much sound like a casual player. If you're serious among making money, read up on bankroll management.. before you can fly with the eagles, swim with the fishes. Or don't try to run before you can even walk! If you stay in poker long enough or if you decide to, hope you come to realise the advice we're giving here. Its all abit harsh, but I wish I knew all this earlier before I blew alot of money to get where i am now, a decent +ROI player...

mmm... may be a good idea!! Ok I wishing you good luck at tables! But it is always difficult to play the sng with($30 or $40 buyin), Instead of playing like this, you can play some mtt with $5 or some buyin and get some good places paid!! Anyway! Goodluck for you!

OP, considering you're a fish, I think your plan makes a lot of sense. Maximizing variance and minimizing the influence of skill is obviously your best shot at winning at this game. Although you should consider roulette, imo. It's even better than poker for what you're trying to achieve.

re: My Online Poker Plan 2010 This is how the majority of 'fish' lose money. Instead why not read some strategy stuff whether online or books, then make a deposit of say $100 and the next step will be your most important.... Stop thinking you can earn decent money by getting lucky and trying to spin up your money. Instead practice solid BRM and be patient. Play 1c/2c or 5nl and just grind it up. You do realise if you're a winning player you could easily be up to 50nl or even within in a year.

I have researched about making money from poker and one major problem at low stakes is the rake. in sit and goes and tournaments if they keep it at 10% or under this isn't major problem, However in cash games the rake will kill you, it is actually possible to be a good winning player in low stakes and still lose to the rake on some sites. Hint avoid party poker with mirco bank rolls.

I saw an awesome quote on some other site that went something like "Only winning players have a bankroll. Everyone else just has a training budget." You, sir, have a training budget. Your challenge is to use it to best effect. I submit you are likely to lose your SnG most of the time, thereby restricting your "training" to one badly played game per month. This will not help you. Honestly, what I would do if I were you is either play for the smallest possible stakes, or for play money. Either way, when you lose, figure out why. It's not bad beats, notif you're depositing month after month. I play on 2 sites. One I won a pair of freerolls for $32 and am 10x that now. The other I did a min deposit and am closing on 10x. Why didn't I go busto? BRM. After thousands of tourneys and somewhere probably still under 100,000 hands, you can bet there have been downswings, but if you limit your risk -and- you are a winning player, your risk of going bust is low (mine hovers around 0.01%). But first, you have to be a winning player. RF

go to the pub and play pokies, or slots in (america) or fruity's in (UK) and do 10 5$ hits or 50 1$ hits, be money better spent imo. but then again ull be the guy that gos on a heater, puts $50 in plays a 50$ sng wins, moves up the next 10 stakes winning each stake, getting to 5k$ then taking up cash games, losing to leatherass or nanonoko, then post a bbv thread about ur success and losses, and how ur puttin in 50$ again tommorow!! now that would be a story!! imho

I prefer the strategy of depositing $1000 and sitting down to play $15/$30 Stud 8 or HORSE on Ultimate Bet better. That'd be a much better strategy. Full Tilt, Pokerstars is also acceptable, as is NLHE 6-max.
