My game is improving

atleast I think it is

I know I'm still new but after losing my initial deposit... I re-deposited another $50 online and ironically started doing the same things that I did before that cost me money. Even though I knew I shouldn't be doing them...I kept doing them just "HOPING" for those cards to fall. I was looking for reasons to stay in a pot, instead of looking for reasons to fold my cards.

And in 3 days I was down to $18 .... and mad. But then something happened. I played a little $3 tourny and finished 30th out of 2200. And the reason I finished 30th was because I played EXACTLY how I knew to play. And with the help of the enourmous amount of knowledge from this website. I was defending the blinds when I should've... stole the blinds when I could, of course had some luck on some hands, but played very solid poker. I wasn't even upset when I got knocked out, because I went out on a good hand and the guy got lucky on the river to his credit. I didn't make alot of $ at 30th...but I think I profited $10 which is better than 0.

But since then it's almost like my game has changed. My table games are solid...with not allowing myself to make exceptions no matter how bad I wanted to call to see the flop with A8 suited. or K9 suited. I'm playing the limits that I know I should be playing, I'm following the bankroll guidelines I've read here, and playing the cards themselves, not the hope.

Anyways, I've rebuilt my little $18 back up to almost $100 and I'm feeling good about it. Solid, consistant, card playing....and I credit a good deal of it to this forum and website. There is a wealth of info, ......and realistically--support-- on this website.

I may not be an avid poster on the forum...but was an avid reader and have now furthered my patience for the game.

Congrats Shesin, the game is more enjoyable when you feel like you are in control & making informed decisions doesn't it. One thing to keep in mind though, bad luck, bad decisions, bad timing happen to all of us & will happen to you again & again. The knowledge & confidence you gain here helps mitigate those bad streaks but nothing can stop them from happening. Keep learning studing & playing & you will continue to get better. Drop by the CC buyins sometime if you want a competitive friendly game to help you evulate your improvement. Good luck & again congrats on your progress.

To up your game more, I suggest purchasing some poker books. Get Harrington on Hold'em vol 1 and vol 2 to improve your tournament play.

I plan on buying his book whenever I actually get to a book store.

Where are these CC buyins at? I currently play on PokerStars

Titan has a daily series that pays bonus to top 3 finishers each month. We also have a Saturday afternoon & Sunday afternoon buyin on Titan and a buyin on PokerStars every or everyother Friday afternoon.

It's different when playing with money. My advise would be to try and keep a limit on how much you deposit a week or month. It's good to hear you're learning . . .keep up the good play.

Besides the books, watch as many poker shows on tv as possible, doing that really improved my game, besides i hate to read,lol>>> gl>> buck
