My first "win"

This is not worth crowing about really, but I'm pleased.

I can't work. I'm stuck at home due to a chronic back problem. Therefore, sticking to the credo "never gamble with more than you can afford to lose", I can't afford to lose anything, so freerolls are my only option for poker sadly.

So I sit down on Thursday for a Poker.com freeroll. I can't stand their software, but it was the best freeroll available at that exact moment, so I went to it.

Got lucky in a couple of early hands. Kicked a couple of arrogant asses. One guy bitched at my playing style, making assinine remarks, like how he'd love to play me for real money. Needless to say I greatly enjoyed kicking his ass out of the tournament three hands later.

Anyway, I kept going strong. Played tight, but got a few lucky hands. (Quality of opponents was pretty bad. Going all-in after the turn when you have absolutely nothing and you're facing someone with ten times your stack?)

So I'm working my way through. Keeping my head down. Watching folk go out. Checking my position. Noticed the tournament was down to 94 people. "Hang on..." I thought... "What position does this pay down too?" I checked...

100.

I'd made it into the money! I kept playing, but competition, as it got narrower, was getting a lot tougher.

I wound up finishing 54th. What did I win? A whopping 40 CENTS!

Okay, so it's a pitiful amount, but when I can't afford to invest any of my own money into online poker, it was a pretty big deal for me

Thanks for reading this far. Apologies if you were bored

Hey .40 is more then the arrogant ass got.

I like player freeroles. Wish I knew more sites with them (I only know PP and Ultimatebet so don't shoot me). And I just started at Ultimatebet Wednesday after PP getting on my nerves with all the kids playing anything.

Best I got so far was 17th. And I am going to keep playing getting little bit by little bit.
Sorry about your back. I know it has to suck but you get some poker in

Yep. The arrogant ass got nothing. Who's laughing now

My best finish is something like 42nd, which I got in my first ever freeroll.

Okay, just from the few programs I have installed, here's what I, a relative newbie, think of their freerolls:

Ultimate Bet: Mostly lousy. Play for three hours to win a Tournament Entry Chip into another tournament where the prize is... A Tournament Entry Chip... Nice clean software. Dumbass freerolls.

Poker.com: Does a few $200 ones every day. Positions 1-100 get money. A large number of idiots play, meaning if you get through the first hour, you stand a good chance of placing it seems. Have a few technical problems with their software. Nothing major, just annoying. Has a handy bar that tells you what hand you have, or had if you folded. Really great when you fold 8,4 off suit, only for the flop to hit 5,6,7. So nice to see a reminder which amounts too "You just flushed a ton of money away. HAHA!"

Absolute Poker: Despite their software being slow as hell, they run an ungodly amount of freerolls every day. Pay close attention, though. Some are for bobbleheads! Seriously, 3+ hours playing for a freakin' bobblehead? They also do more than just Hold 'em freerolls. I wound up in an Omaha Hi/Lo when I wasn't paying attention. Scary

Noble Poker: Love their software. Sadly, they have very few unrestricted freerolls, at least at the time of day I can play them. Far too many requiring membership at arcane messageboards etc... I'm a member of two other sites, purely to get their freeroll passwords. (Not this board obviously, since I actually post here)

My recommendation as veteran of about two months (in other words, a not very expert opinion): If you want to get into freerolls, get Poker.com and Absolute Poker. They're the two I play the most. Absolute Poker is probably the best choice. Pretty much any time of day, you can get a freeroll.

As for my back... Yep, it sucks. Still seeing specialists etc... Got other problems too, but the back is the main one. (Knees don't work, hips are screwed etc... Pretty sad. I'm only 34.)

Pokerhost has some nice freerolls too. Download Royal Vegas and they give you $10 for nothing to play with, ( a nice start for your bankroll!).
You got money which is more than a lot of other players did on that freeroll. Congrats and keep on winning!

Royal GIVE you ten dollars? How? When? Why? Seriously, I got hold of Vegas for the recent forum tournament, but I never saw that. (Admittedly I've not looked at it much.) Any clues?

I will check Pokerhost. I'm enjoying poker.com as they're quick. If you make it past the first hour, you're in with a good shout at the money. Absolute Poker is nice, but it takes SO damn long. 3.5 hours to finish 42nd. (24 places out of the money.)

I keep crashing out spectacularly on poker.com. I wind up getting screwed on the river About to sign up for the 8pm (my time) one tonight. Here we go again

Edit: Damn, it looks like it's only new customers at Royal Vegas that get the $10 Which means playing in that forum challenge screwed me over, as I would never have installed it otherwise. (Nor have I used it since.) Damn Gotta see if I can figure this out.

play poker.com myself.fin in money quite a few times.same as u.dont spend much on line i save my money 4 live tourneys.a much better buzz
save it in your bank.build it up and then throw it into a cash tourney and win that.best chances is that.
u wana try tropics poker.2 freerolls a day i think.much better chance cause u lookin at 60 to 150 entries.win 1st or 2nd and win seat on fpp tourney.not many enties there either and the wins r pretty good.80 or 90 dollars 4 1st and pays many places.not bad 4a freeroll.

I'm running out hard disk space for all these poker programs

Not played in a couple of weeks now. Wife had a baby so I've not had the chance. Will try and get into a Poker.com freeroll in a while though. It was the one around 5pm EST that I won in, so I'll see if I get lucky again

Signed up with Crazy Vegas and got my free $15, and will be posting later asking folk what they think the best course of action is
