I mostly just wanted to keep myself in the hand for the opportunity to get it. I was almost sure the other guy would bet hard when I checked the river too. May have misplayed that, but I ended up getting first in the SnG, so I'm happy all around! |

Oh, ANOTHER Royal Flush. YAWWWWWN
![]() (Congrats )And you got lucky and played it wrong (you min bet when you didn't have a hand and checked when you did!! - I know what you were trying on the river - it never works, i know!). If you're making a continuation bet, you have to bet much harder, and if you get raised there's no point min betting again when a nothing card comes on the turn. Thanks for the advice. Yeah, after the fact I was quite sure I'd played it badly. To be fair though, the table was somewhat weak and people were routinely folding to my mini-bets.
Although I wouldn't necessarily say there's no point betting again on the turn after a raise, because those raises are often to test if the other player has anything, especially against a mini-bet. If you bet again, it may represent to the other player that you have a hand. I was hoping this doubt might keep him from betting too wildly so I could get a look at the river with my 2 overcards and flush draw (and royal draw, hehe). I agree I played it wrong, but that's just what the thought process behind it was. |
