My Daily Progress starting with $1,000.00 Bankroll
Okay well after multiple deposits and you guessed it right LOSING... I was beginning to wonder why I would play Live sessions and win but online I would lose. (Reason is because I did not play under the proper limits for my bankroll. I have currently played under Chris Ferguson's rule of having no more than 5% of your bankroll on the table at one time)
So I wanted to try something new. So instead of the multiple small deposits I decided to deposit $1,000 and play within my bankroll limit to see how I make out. I currently have a full time job so I am going to be playing around my schedule. I will be updating this thread daily to post my progress and would be more than happy to have people comment on my progress and also post there own progress. (All figures below are based on daily totals) Jan 29th $1,000.00(Starting balance) Jan 30th $970.00 (-30.00) Jan 31st $1,134.00 (+164.00) Feb 1st $1,130.00 (-4.00) Feb 2nd $1,153.50 (+23.50) Feb 3rd $1,218.67 (+65.17) Feb 4th $1,334.22 (+115.55) Feb 5th $1,286.89 (-47.33) Feb 6th $1,252.62 (-34.27) Feb 7th $1,391.70 (+139.08)--entered a $24+2 with 547 people and placed 10th Feb 8th $1,397.70 (+6.00) --only played a short session |

Complete chaos
Well after a day of complete chaos on the poker table, my tilt level reached a new high. After doing so well for the first 10 days and building my bankroll from 1,000 to 1,400 i lost my whole profit and am back to square one. It seemed that every hand i played the villian would know that by fifth street their 1-2 outer was going to come so they would call pot sized or even more chasing their cards. It felt like on the screen it said call him down your cards will come lol. I've had days like this and I knew i should stop playing for the day but I was on tilt (and i'm sure you all have experienced it before) and kept playing hoping things would turn around. Well they didn't and now i'm sitting with my original buy in and have to get through this and begin my quest of rebuilding what i lost in 1 day that took me 10 days to build. I'm so angry at myselft for playing knowing i was running horrible. Now i have set another rule for myself and that is that i will give myself 150.00 a day so thats 3 buyins max and if i lose them then i won't play anymore for that day otherwise what happened yesterday my happen again from not stopping. Hopefully i'll be posting positive progress in the next couple of days. Wish me luckFeb 9th -$988.61 ($ -246.34) Last edited by Hotmilk8 : 10-02-2008 at 3:41 PM. |

Good effort so far mate. Just curious, you said you're following the 5% rule which is great. When you bought in for $100 what are you playing?
Ring or MTT or SnG? Im guessing ring so are you playing .25/.50 for $50? Good luck with ur ventures |

Well after playing on a $50NL table i was not feeling it today. I couldn't hit any flops and had the feeling that i was getting blinded out lol. I ended up losing my 50 dollar buyin and gave it a rest for a couple hours. Went back seeing if my feeling would change so i put 40 more on a table. Played for a while and got mixed up in some nice pots with AA-KK and 1010 flopping a set on 2 of the 3 only to get sucked out by the river by idiots. So i'm posting this early seeing that i am not playing anymore for the night and will wait untill tomorrow, because today i wasn't feeling too confident.
Bankroll $1017.41 (-90.00) Profit $17.41 |

Very good progress to report today. I started the day with $1017.41 and after losing a little here and there I was involved in a huge hand to end my day(I finally was the one on the lucky end of things) I was under the gun and this was going to be my final hand of the day before i had to pay the blinds. I am dealt QK offsuit so i raise it up to $2, two to my left call and small blind calls. So pot is $8. Flop comes 4c, Qc, Qd. small blind leads out with $8 bet so i just smooth call, guy behind me calls and next guy folds. Pot is now $32 now. Turn is a 5d. Small blind bets $15 i raise and make it $40 to go, guy behind me folds. small blind 3 bets me and makes it $120 to go ( Now i'm thinking he has made his boat and i am crushed) but instead of making the right move and folding i push all in for $159 and he quickly calls turning over 4h,4d ( He flopped the full house) I am sitting on 15% to win the hand with only 3 kings in the deck... and river is a King to make my Queens full. Talk about lucky. so now i ended the day up $ 251.95. So my bankroll is now sitting at a comfty $1,269.36. Tommorrow i am off to foxwoods to play in some live games. I have another side bankroll for my live play. So that will not be included in my online bankroll.

Purchased Pokertracker & Pokerace HUD
Well after reading so many threads and watching videos on Pokertracker and Pokerace HUD I finally purchased them both. They are really amazing programs and well worth the money. I am getting used to it now but it was a little confusing in the beginning because the program evaluates and breaks down sooooo much information.
So, After playing on full tilt and posting my progress everyday here. I have decided that i will be posting Weekly progress here every Wednesday. I started my experiment on Jan 30th (Wednesday) so here is a summary based on weekly progress. Feb 6th 1 Week Mark $1,252.62 (Profit of $252.62) Feb 13th 2 Week Mark $1,156.97 (Profit of $156.97) Thank you for viewing and i will see you on this thread on Wednesday Feb 20th. Thanks for your time. |

Week 3 (Rebuilding After Losing $400 Profit)
My third week into my experiment and it is going well considering my day when i loss my $400 profit. Playing within my bankroll is working wonders and am able to play for the long run wheras i used to keep depositing and losing.
I started the week with $1,156.97 and now have $1,299.14 which is a gain of $142.17 in this week. I was looking for a bigger profit but this will do just fine. After 3 weeks i'm averaging $100.00 per week which isn't bad for not playing full time as i have a full time job. The numbers should increase when i reach the bankroll for a .50-1 table. But at this rate it will be 2 more months but that is just fine with me as i am not looking to make a quick buck anymore and am looking to play for the long run as a hobby since i love playing cards. Thanks for reading and will be updating this Febuary 27th... Good Luck All!!!! ![]() |

I deposited the $1,000 to prevent from having to do that ever again. I pretty much did it because i was tired of losing by playing out of my limits. I enjoy poker as a hobby and as i expected, since i deposited the big amount i have been playing for 3+ weeks now and not only do i still have my original deposit but i have profit to show. I basically figured out that i would save money in the long run if i deposited a big amount and played within my limits for my bankroll. Would never have to deposit again and would be able to keep this money online say (Forever???) and just play for fun and hopefully along the way continue to make money. I hope that this answers your question. Thanks for reading my thread. Good Luck |

Bad Start to the week with positive ending!!
I took a beating this week and have lost my profit once again, and am now sitting at $920.64. Literally every pocket pair of JJ-KK went up against AA when recieved them. I am not as angry as the first time i lost my profit as that time it was my fault. (This my friends is called VARIANCE) and why so many poker players cannot be successful. I just look at it as its GONE and have to start from square one again, otherwise i will lose my whole roll trying to chase money that is no longer my own.
I normally do not play sit-n-go's but i entered a small $6.00+$0.50 6 person turbo tournament where 1st recieved a $24.00+$2.00 tournament entry token and 2nd $10.00. I played really well in this tournament and won the 1st place prize. I have not redeemed it and am planning on saving it for a rainy day. Well as you may know this is my week to take a trip up to Foxwoods. I arrived there at around 8:30a.m sat down with $300.00 and by 10:00 i was crippled and sitting with $80.00. Talk about a start huh? The crippling hand was when i had QJsuited of diamonds and raised it to $12.00 from the button and big blind smooth called. FLOP came AJQ rainbow----long story short after bets and raises and calls, big blind had aces up (AJ). Despite the horrible start, I kept my composure and did not go on tilt as it was tough to put him on that hand, and tought to let two pair go, especially heads up. After that happened, my favorite seat on the table opened up. So i decided to switch seats and boy was it successful. After slowly building my stack up to $150.00 i look down at KK under the gun. I make it $20.00 to go and have 3 callers. I flopped top set and bet out $50.00 when i get reraised all in, and obviously i called. Guy had AA and my set of kings held up to double me up back to my $300.00 buyin. From there on out i hit 3 more sets--10's vs. flush draw and i boated, 8's vs. flush draw and i boated, and a monster set of 9's vs. AK with flop K94 rainbow and i boated when the turn was another king, Thankfully the ace didn't pop on the river. I also flopped a nut flush vs. a flopped Q high flush which was a healthy pot as well. To wrap up the 6.5 hour session I cashed out with $980.00 for a profit of $680.00 in 6.5 hours. Even though i was discouraged from losing the $220.00 in 1.5 hours i stuck with it and grinded it out and most importantly stayed on top of my game by not changing my style. So all in all ended up with my bankroll online at $920.64 but pocketed a profit of $680.00 in live play. So hopefully this coming week will have positive progress to report as i am feeling very confident and feel like i have a little momentum on my side. Thanks for reading and Good Luck!! |

My favorite place to play cash games is Foxwoods. So many people, so much money, ect. I think most people go to a casino thinking "wow it would be great to make some money", but if I loose of well.
