| WOW to the first one I sure do wish I got calls like that when I played 1/2... Well played; I don't know how, but the fish sure got sucked in there. 2nd one, I rarely chase gutshots, but then again I hardly ever factor in implied odds... Against the odds call on the flop, fine if you hit. OK you hit it on the turn. Nice reraise, but I don't like your re-reraise. Just stick it all in. No use letting him see the river with $100 still left in front of him - there are still redraws to beat you. I prefer a push here if you're confident you're not beat with AK. Nice hands - the more Party HHs I'm seeing, the more it makes me want to play there...sooooo many fishies. I played Titan 1/2 and 2/4 and hardly ever got calls like yours here. |

| I've just found a good table I guess, nothing but fish have shown up so far. The only big hand I lost I held AA and was HU against a guy who's VP$IP was 78 after ~100 hands so I bet heavy into him all the way through. Pot was a nice $504. Turns out he had 5-8 and caught trip 8's on the river. Oh well, that's poker I guess. EDIT: 1st one- Just got lucky with a sucker there. 2nd one- Based on the guys previous play, I couldn't put him on a big hand and I didn't think he wouldn't go all in on the turn so I tried to milk him for all it was worth. On a side note: I very rarely chase a gut shot straight, but for $5 the implied odds were huge if it hit, and it did. Also, I just switched over to PP from Stars about a week ago and it has paid off bigtime. Started with a $50 buy in and a $25 bonus and now my bankroll is almost $1000 with an hour or two of playing time a day with the exception of today. | Gotta say I agree with Rob - like I said I used to play 1/2 and 2/4. The highest my BR was at was about 200 short of 3K, which is still tiny for 2/4. I went on a very normal run of bad cards, and I lost about 1500 buckers! I wasn't even tilting or playing poorly; it was just a normal, expected swing and it all but destroyed my BR. I too had the $600 days like you, but I highly suggest you build your 'roll at a lower level if all you have is $1000 until you have at least 20 buyins - especially with people making crazy loose calls like these. Their great in the long run, but with variance this high, you should see crazy swings (like the upswing you're on now). Anyways it's just a suggestion, but take it from someone who was caught playing too high for their BR: it doesn't matter how well you're playing, swings happen to everyone and if you're playing higher than your BR allows, then the swings can be devastating |

| I appreciate all the responses and advice you guys have given me. And yes, today has been an exceptional upswing, I usually stop after winning $100-$150/day since I consider myself a casual player for now. I enjoy the skill level I seem to play against most of the time at this limit compared to the lower levels, and that's why I've played here. What would you suggest for a BR my size ($1000)? |

| re: My best hands of the night... poker I think it depends on what you're willing to risk (I don't know what you're willing to lose if you go on a bad streak, or if you're relying on making money through poker), but usually the suggestion is never to have more than %5 of your 'roll on a table at once. I think %10 is pushing it, but is doable if you're playing a tight aggressive style and can dodge the swings a little. I think %5 is safe, and smaller is even better (though grinding it out on the 50 max is a pain in the ass) |

| Pretty much when I started playing online (about 6 months ago) it was just for fun to pass time when I coudn't make it to the casino. In the last two months I've gotten, IMO, much better at online play and have started to profit from it. I cashed out my Stars account up $2500 from my original $100 deposit after losing consistently for two weeks. I then deposited the $50 to PP to give it a try since I heard it was less notorious for suck outs at the river. To make a long story short, it's nice to make some extra money off of it, but I'm not reliant on it at all and it's mostly to pass time when I can't make it to a live game which is most of the time with a wife and three kids. BTW, I'm still at the same table as my OP and I'm up from my original $80 buy in to $1075. Yay for me.. Another decent play... ***** Hand History for Game 4719210550 ***** $200 NL Texas Hold'em - Wednesday, July 12, 10:28:14 ET 2006 Table Table 111206 (Real Money) Seat 1 is the button Total number of players : 6 Seat 5: Shady_Vision ( $922.06 ) Seat 6: Arzzt ( $204.85 ) Seat 1: cigar111111 ( $206.30 ) Seat 2: bobertos ( $86.54 ) Seat 3: toffelhelt ( $200 ) Seat 4: vodka_shot ( $226.65 ) bobertos posts small blind [$1]. toffelhelt posts big blind [$2]. ** Dealing down cards ** Dealt to Shady_Vision [ Qs Ts ] vodka_shot calls [$2].
