music while you play?

I am curious and wanted to start this thread. Do you like to listen to music while you play. Personally it helps get me into a zone.

I will listen to some tunes that get me pumped.

Eye of the tiger is one of my favorites to get my hyped up.

Then I'll listen to some rock or alternative.

What do you listen to?

Yes sometmes I listen to the radio and have good runs, it really pumps me up. And then I take a bad beat by some donkey 2 spots from the money....and I smash the radio!, kick the dog like a 60 yard attempt!, and beat the wife til' the cops pull me off of her! Just an average day for me....got any duct tape, milk bones and flowers? I need to say sorry.....haha! todays fact: #1 reason for domestic abuse?...women just don't listen. (totallyjoking)

Not really music, too much, but TV? Yeh, all the time! Mostly for the company, BUT practically every book and article I've read on Poker says that that's a BAD thing to do--turn all of it OFF and concintrate on playing, is what the pros seem to think best.

Most of the time I play poker I listen to music.
Doesn't really matter what kind of.
Some pop is oké to me.
But the most I like;

I only play music if people around me are loud or distracting. My niece and her 2 year old live with us. As well as my 20 year old daughter. So it can get a little loud.

I like listening to sports talk radio, it gives me somethign to focus on when im getting garbage cards, and keeps me from getting impatient

I always listen to music when I play online. In a casino I wear my ipod but keep it very low so I can hear everything, make 'em think I'm not paying attention.

Sometimes I will listen to the Ipod but like others- my house is pretty much full of noise. Sometimes I will watch a movie too- helps me to slow down and not call when I shouldn't! lol

I listen to almost anything from Jazz to Rap and Hip-Hop gets me in the mood for poker.

that is so funny i thought i was the only one ,i hav eye of the tiger on utube and play it b4 i play any real money tournys lol....but i listen to all kinds of music wen i play it gets me in the zone

Music is a great way to stay entertained when your playing, but not playing long hands, it also helps me focus for some reason.

Yeah music keeps me focused on the screen and not conversations or tv on around me. My desktop is in the living room so lots of distractions. I like to play classic rock and at least 4 times in the playlist have Kenny Roger's "The Gambler" to keep me from being too loose.

I am you glad for the feedback on this thread. Thanks alot. I would also say that occupying your time between hands is a good thing. Doesnt get you rushed into jumping into a hand for a little action. I can find myself get a little eager to jump into a hand just because I am bored. I think that may be a downfall of my game. Stay focused and spend some time on waiting.

I try to always either listen to music or watch tv. It helps you play tighter at a table if you want to play tight. considering your time is already occupied. I listen to mostly Rnb and rap while i play.

I like to listen to some smooth or fusion jazz while playing cards. I find if I listen to music with lyrics I start singing along (badly) and it distracts me. The family finds the jazz annoying (doctors office music they call it), my singing really bothers them.

i usu listen to pop music, but iv read that classical music works best? -it regulates your heartbeat and makes you more focused (figures since it helps child growth) lol.

been forcing myself to listen to some mozart haha dunno about the results.

Music is great while playing poker! It helps me not getting bored, and you know if you play poker bored, it's total disaster! I listen to all kind of rock music while im playing

I do listen to music when I'm playing online. I have never played live but if I did, I don't think I could listen to music at least until I get comfortable with the live process. I have a whole mix of music on my ipod though everything from rap, soft rock, metal, and even a little bit of country. I keep my ipod on shuffle so I usually always have a really random mix of music playing.

I myself dont listen to music when I play, live or online. Although I've always wondered how players can properly compute pot odds and such in their heads while listening to music and lyrics. Whatever works I guess.
