more higher stakes at different type of games?

Oh.. texas hold'em is the most known poker game. There is a thing that i don't really understand.. In full tilt poker for example. almost every time I see that people are afraid to play high stakes...

At the moment ii see that the highest stake that hold'em is played is 25$/50$ by only 2 people. but in the mixed games for example i see that 6/6 people are playing 250$/500$ .. and many more people are playing high stakes at the mixed games... why is that?

I also saw that the most pros, like tom dwan, patrick antonius, gus hansen etc. like to play omaha online... in 10 days when i saw all of these 3 people at the tables, they were playing mixed games or omaha... no hold'em.... why?

Is there a thing about texas holdem?

I think that the competition has caught up quite a bit and these top guys don't have the big edge they used to have.

They're just trying to maximise their profits by playing in games where the players have less knowledge of the game thats being played.

Some of the players that are well known because of their appearances on TV (+ most of the red pros) are actually scared of some of the players who play 1000 and 5000NL, some of them are really good players.

Yes, I'd have to say that wrung is right! (hehe) Also, Omaha and some of the other games like triple draw low, have more "gamble" in them. More drawing chances, etc, and those big stakes players love to gamble...

One reason for the NL vs mixed games thing is that mixed games are almost all played limit, and that changes your bankroll requirements a lot.

30 buy ins for $5KNL is $150,000. 100 big bets at $250-$500 limit is $50,000 and 300 is $150,000. Exactly what BRM strategy the players at these limits subscribe to is another question entirely, but in theory you could play the $250-$500 limit with an equal or even much smaller bankroll than you could play $5KNL and you could also expect the swings to be less pronounced.

Also wrung has it: like all good players, high stakes regs prefer to play the games where they feel like they've got the best edge and in most cases that's not in NLHE. Maybe they've got an edge in NLHE and maybe they don't, but chances are there are other games where they'll be able to put their skill advantage to better use.

Isildur1 is one example - he played people at PLO when he had to, but made it clear that he'd rather be playing NLHE. Not everybody was willing to give him NLHE action though.
