More donks in tourneys than sit n gos in Stars? I'm used to playing the $4.40 180 player sit n gos on Stars (not sure if these count as MTTs) Last night I played a $5.50 big tourney, with around 3000 people entering, and the play was horrendous, full of donks, with very few decent players. I came around 150th, but ought to have go further. One player called my all in push with a king flush with 4 of a suit on the board with top pair, when we were both deep stacked. Even worse some guy called my all in bet on the flop with QQ when it was J62 rainbow with 109 (did he think he has a straight draw?), and that was quite deep into it. Not to mention plenty of players just titling when they still had a reasonable stack and going all in every hand with garbage until someone called them. Has anyone else noticed the general level of play in the massive tournaments with thousands of people is much worse than in the sit n gos and smaller MTTs or is it not always this bad? I am going to play these more regularly.

Yes, which is why variance is a much bigger factor in MTT's. When you win you tend to win much bigger, but you go through many more losses in between. With 10x-20x the field, especially for the small buy-ins, you have a proportional increase in bad players that you must get through.

re: More donks in tourneys than sit n gos in Stars? poker It is very disappointing when guys play like this. My experience is that by the time you get to the $4 and $5 buy in level the games tighten up. You would expect guys on short stacks to push with just about anything but not guys who are still in with a chance of winning or at least cashing at a high level. Keep playing solid poker and in the long run you will benefit from this type of play.

re: More donks in tourneys than sit n gos in Stars? poker as an experienced player in sit and goes now I have to say standards can vary a lot, I have had some tough tables with everyone knowing what there doing and seen other tables with a10 v77 instant shove and call on 10/20 blinds first hand. I think the most exceptional one I ever saw was AK v KQ v A6 v97 four way pre flop all in, I was left flabbergasted at that one though. single table sit and goes fill up very fast on pokerstars and it stands to reason that the standard is going to be somewhat variant.
